Project retrofit done...for now

I don't really like the look so I'm going to go back in next week and paint the headlight cover black. The headlights stand out too much against the black and I think will clash with the gold Konig Feathers that are comming in the spring.

However, I thought someone might want to see what an all chome headlight looks like w/ chrome vinyl over the reflector. Almost JDM except they have black towards the front of the headlight.

Thanks for the feedback!

No cutoff pics yet...still making adjustments.

The thing I like about the amber is that it gives it a nice look while they are on and off.

I like it the way it is. i think the blackout will make the headlights look more like eyeballs, especially with the round Shrouds in place. i've seen some other vehicles where they've blacked out the headlights because projectors were installed and the proportions looked odd and the cars always seemed like they were watching me.

I'm not a fan of the blacked out look, especially on a black car. you'll be increasing the darker "surface area" of the car which will make the headlights stand out more from the car. kind of like putting odd sized wheels on a car. They draw your focus to the single attribute, and not the entire car. IMO, the best looking cars have elements that complement each other and no single element that stands out.

That said. It's my opinion and obviously, it differs from many. The important thing is what you like.

Thanks, I'm not going to black out the whole thing, just the chrome piece around the reflector bowls.

I think it would look good either way really. Everything chrome does make it look uniform and gives it a nice contrast against the black. But black housing does make it look more aggressive.

D2S

I'm having trouble getting the cutoff just right...easy to adjust, just not sure how high to aim the lights. Should it never go past another car's rear window or just not higher than the rear window a few feet away?

I park 25 feet back from a passenger car and aim at the bottom of their side mirrors.

^This man knows.

You'll be safe as long as you're not blinding them as you get closer. From a long distance, it won't matter as much because it will be less of a distraction (just twinkling stars rather than the light of God ).

Thumbs up

It looks really nice. Now I know what it would look like on my CBP too. I was planning on blacking out the reflector, but after seeing yours I'm liking that more, plus less work. Especially with the chrome vinyl on the reflector (and the clear parking/signal bulbs).

Is the chrome vinyl also reflective (like the OEM), or just a chrome color?

Thanks! The chrome vinyl is as reflective as the rest of the chrome in the headlight, not like an OEM reflector.

Please do... It would be great to see side by side pics. I wish I had the $$$ for this now... damn priorities. lol..

From what I've seen both styles look great (chrome & black).
