Honda Fit Scheduled Dealer Maintenance Cost
Honda Fit Scheduled Dealer Maintenance Cost
Based on your experience how is the scheduled maintenance cost at the dealer?
I know someone with an Elantra who said the money you save with the MPG is used for very expensive dealer scheduled maintenance.

Why pay the dealer? The only real restriction for maintenance is using honda branded transmission, brake, and coolant. But any garage can do the actual change.
I definitely don't do the scheduled maintenence at the dealer.
Oil change at a trusted lube shop (or yourself) and tire rotation at a tire place (mine is free for life since I bought tires from them).
When it comes brake pad time, I'll get mine done either by a friend or a mechanic.
Why can't you just add all of these posts together in one thread? A thread with all your concerns about the fit?
We could discuss them all together then.

Every Honda dealership out there has a website and on their website is usually a coupon for service. Print out that coupon and bring it with you.
Make sure to tell them you just want the oil changed or an "A1" service and a tire rotation. For all other services like changing out the air filter just do it yourself. The B services where they do a thorough check of the vehicle you dont really need.
When the code lights come up on the dash, look in the owner's manual to see what it means. Figure out what you can do yourself (change the air filter) versus what you cant do like tire rotation or oil change. Also figure out what is best done at the dealership versus what can be done at the independent mechanic.
I only take my Honda Fit to the dealership to get the oil changed with a service coupon. I do this because if I want to sell the car again I am sure to have all the receipts. People who buy cars from private parties are more comfortable knowing the car has been serviced at the dealership. For things like brakes, I take it to my independent mechanic. I do whatever I can myself like air filter change.
Now lets say you lease, plan on trading in the car at some point or want to drive the car until the wheels fall off than you can just go ahead and take it to your independent mechanic.
You should only be paying $50 for an oil change with service coupon every 7000 miles.

The dealership I bought my Fit from (Trickett Honda in Nashville, Tn) charges $22.50 to do an oil change. They offer this benefit to all new Honda Fit buyers, and the price is good for as long as I own the car.
Oil prices should vary widely depending on whether it's synthetic or not. Also, change the cabin filter yourself. That has to be the biggest rip-off. The part costs around $11 and takes less than a 3 minutes to replace. The dealer wants $80.
Yeah, I usually do my own changes, using Castrol full synthetic, and it costs me about $28. I just found out my dealer will do it for $20. I will let him get dirty at that price.

you need to stop talking to these idiots, no offense, every thread you start is nothing but misinformation.
0w20 is acceptable for the Fit. 2011 and up suggest 0w20 with no engine changes to the 2009 and 2010. Honda is planning on using 0w20 on vehicles to like 2001. There is a chart from a dealership that shows that 0w20 is acceptable for older Fits. I did an oil change with 0w20 myself for for around $25. It was simple and gave me a sense of accomplishment and I was sure it was done right.
So for example, my nearby QuikLube offers a regular oil-change for around $25, but a sythetic-blend change is in the higher $30s, and a full-synthetic blend is around $55 (this from memory--could be off by a few $$).
