2013 Fit rumors?
Has anyone heard any rumors for the 2013 Honda Fit? I think this is the last model year before Honda makes the complete design refresh and the cars start rolling off the Mexican assembly line.
One that I heard was the introduction of a turbo model. That was all. I can't find the blog in which it was mentioned.

Here is my uneducated guess.
Honda goes in 5 year cycles, year 3 is the mid-cycle refresh.
2013 should be the last model year for the Fit. Honda sometimes has special edition cars, like the Accord for the final year where they give extra options for free. But the Fit only has a Sport and base and on top of that it's a low margin car.
Turbo... unlikely that they would spend money to put that in the car. If turbo was going to be put in it, I would suspect that they would do it in the next model.
They already spent money putting a hybrid and EV into the Fit.
And hence my bold prediction... I'm going to say that the current Fit will stay for 6 years. They need to make some money back on the hybrid and EV. Sales are still decent and still the market leader, etc. It's not unheard of to go 6 years all of a sudden. Toyota did it with the last gen Prius from 2004-2009 because they were milking it.

My guess is no big changes. The economy and tsunami have kept Japanese car sales low. I don't think they would be so willing to make major changes for the final production year for the GE Fit.
I expect that they will import the hybrid and Shuttle models with the next (2014) Fit design. I doubt they will have a turbo model as they would more likely be wanting to stay competitive in the B-Spec category without bumping themselves into a higher bracket in which the Fit would be less competitive. They'll probably save the turbo/performance enhancement for the CR-Z. I wouldn't be surprised if they offered a B-Spec performance package for the new Fit that would mainly include suspension and brake upgrades.

There's almost no "extras" left to make standard. You get it all: VSA, USB, cruise, and keyless.
I say we're done seeing ANY changes to the FIT for '13 and maybe '14. I'd say a top-to-bottom redesign for the '15 model (possibly '14), made in Mexico.

Well, Honda just recently broke its 5-yr rule with regards to the Civic. One can at least give them credit for being responsive to the market.
I personally don't expect major changes to the 2013 Fit although the Bluetooth suggestion sounds rather likely. The addition of an inexpensive electronic doo-dad isn't too difficult to implement into the assembly line process.

In a completely unprecedented and unexpected move, Honda has announced to its dealers to expect a new Civic by the end of next year. That’s right, the all-new 2012 Honda Civic that just came out is already getting a makeover.
Honda is clearly doing damage control by saying that the revamp is coming early in order to stay ahead of the competition. But there’s little doubt it’s coming because the all-new Civic was so disappointing. In fact, many believe that it was a step backwards from the previous generation’s offerings and that Honda really missed the mark on their iconic model.
At least Honda is being proactive in recognizing that a change needs to be made, hopefully it’s for the better.

Otherwise they would've offered Bluetooth as an option on the Sport back in '09. I really doubt they pulled an "Apple" and added a feature which is dormant. If they do offer a new stock head unit, I'll be the first to order one from Honda for my '12.

I think 6-Speed wouldn't show up until 2014 (if at all).
I think one way of guessing what might be added into the 2013 US Fit is what's already available on the 2012 Jazz in Europe. I found the following below and some of them are US options or available on the Sport/Nav version.

- Integrated Bluetooth/Hands Free Telephone (HFT) system (avail on US Sport/nav)
- Electric retractable mirrors with integrated indicators
- Cooled glove box (Really? A refrigerated glove box in Europe?)
- Privacy glass
- Auto lights
- Auto wipers
- Two-tiered boot (US option, either the Cargo Cover or the Magic Board)

Was the panoramic glass roof an aftermarket installation or is it a factory-installed option for Finland?
