Is it possible to take ( buy ) back spoiler ( the one on the top of back door ) from 2012 Fit Sport and mount it on 2012 Fit Base ? . Perhaps someone did it on 2011 model (?)

 

yes it is possible. and yes it has been done on prior model years (2009 and 2010).

But you need to be sure you want to do this... the spoiler requires drilling.

 

I know that drilling would be required , not in the spoiler but the gate. I just wonder if the gate (back door ) is the same on basic model. And if inside of the gate thay have bracket to secure the spoiler. How this was done on other model years ? Did they drill and tred the hole ? I cant imagine to drill the hole in the door and use bolt and nut. That might make impossible to close the door. I would be intrested to see step by step info for 2010 and 2011 model years. Does anyone know where to find it ? Thanks for any help.

There are two bolts and 4 clips. All require holes in the top of the hatch to insert the receptacles for the clips and bolts.

Thanks guys, but what I'am looking for is how this was done on base model ( 2010 or 2011 ). Looks like the spoiler on the pictures is on Sport model. I have 2009 Fit Sport and few Civics. My wife wants one more Fit, but base , but she want's a spoiler. New spoiler for Fit ( from dealer ) is only $264 + my labor. No sense to buy Fit Sport for 2K more just to get a spoiler ( well... and few other things that I never used on my 09 sport ) . Got 09 sport just to get cruise , that was not available on base model. It's not the case any more. With skirt, spoiler and fog lights U won't tell the dif. on 2012 base. however don't care much for fog lights (replace on my 09 3 times due to broken covers - on gravel roads - no more )

 

from what i read, the sport hatch has nuts welded inside the hatch sheet metal for the two bolts.

As for 2009 vs 2010/2011... they're all the same.

Did ya do it??? I'm dieing to add the spoiler to my base model too. I have the parts but I'm scared once I start I'll mess up no one has any good pictures of the work. Thinking of taking it to a body shop and letting them do it....

 

took off my sport wing for a gt wing. I was left with 6 holes total... 2 are main and 4 are for push pin type clip
