55k miles and still not ready for new brake pads!

Hey guys, this is just bizarre to me, I've never had a car before that so lightly used it's brakes! I got all set to do a pad-swap this morning, only to find that my original pads still have 40-50% of the meat left on them! At 55,000+ miles, WOAH! Haha. What were your cars at when you had to do the brakes for the first time???

I'm at 47k on the original pads. My del sol lasted till 95k miles and I only changed them because I was bored an wanted to work on my car.

I was at ~80k when I changed mine.

Did you check the inner pads? My outer pads were barely worn at all, but the inner ones were getting thin.

Nm, replaced mine at 86k miles and they weren't even down to those wear indicator tabs yet.

Squeeze every last drop of life out of those!

damn guys, that's pretty gnarly! In my 2003 Mitsubishi I could never get the pads to last more than like 40k-45k...

I checked the pads on my car just before hitting 41,000 miles and it looks like they aren't even half way used up yet... It's been over two years since I have activated the ABS... It is seldom that I use the brakes for anything other than coming to a complete stop...

Smile It also depends on how...

You drive...my brake pads should last twice as long as my wife's (27K and ready for replacement-Mazda 5). She is horrible at anticipating traffic and turns, and brakes more to make up for it...
