They have it for the Sport too, you just have to search for a different tire size (or, if you search by car model, don't let it default to OEM tires, click on All Tires This Size).

The tread life rating is 740- which is twice the life of the OEM tire. And while there's a lot of fudge factor in those ratings it still seems to indicate the tire will last a long time.

Thanks for pointing this out. I went for 205/50/16s on my '09 Sport about a year ago and I'll be through them in another year at the rate I'm going. I'm not certain that going with the wider tire was a good idea--my fuel economy and snow traction might have suffered, and so if these get good ratings I might switch back to stock size. Let's also hope that this means that other manufacturers will soon release tires in the stock size.

I meant in OEM sizes.

Of course you can get "any" tire in a different size. But for me to consider something as "for" something else, it should match factory details.

This is something that "can" be used on the Fit.

Edit: the post following yours is a prime example of the confusion it creates.

Re Eugene
No, this tire is NOT offered in factory spec size for the Sport.

Tire Rack shows 185 55 16 which is the original size.

What I meant by 'you have to search for a different tire size' means that the OP's link goes to the Tire Rack page for the base model, and you have to re-search for the sport model's size. And then NOT let it default to OEM tires because then it'll just show the two OEM tires.

According to Tire Rack's site these tires ARE available in 2010 Sport size.

Here's the link for 2010 Sport at Tire Rack:

Hum... that's strange... is there a difference between the Ascend (T) and Ascend (H&V)?

They look like speed ratings, so I'm guessing that's about it.

Ok.

i got the Yokohamas for my base almost a year ago and they are awesometown. rated 70,000 miles, which considering my factory tires literally had a hole (srsly 1" HOLE) rubbed out of the side of one and NO TREAD (it was bad) after 24,000 miles these have to be better. also handles better (which considering my setup is totally stock, any help goes a long way)

They do seem interesting, especially with the technology in them.

However, the one review on tirerack says they wore out after ~20k miles...

I wouldn't put too much into what folks say about it wearing out in x miles. Namely because you can't verify how they drive.

Drive hard and fast... they'll wear out quicker. Drive slow and basically hypermill, and they will typically last longer.

Get mood swings like I do... and who knows how long it'll last.

How do you put 20,000 miles on a tire that hasn't been sold yet?

I just ordered a set of these, the Yokohama Avid Ascend T-Rated, in 175/65-15 for my friend’s 09 Base. Price was $87.50/tire shipped from Discount Tire Direct. They had to special order them since they do not have any in-stock yet.

The car currently has a set of 195/60-15 Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S. They have between 35-40k on them and are nearly bald, which is expected based on the treadwear warranty. Great traction and handling though. Unfortunately, due to their high rolling resistance and the slight oversize, the car has never gotten more than mid 30s on the highway. Hopefully this will change with the new Yokohamas.

Waaaaayyyy to expensive at $125 shipped. I just ordered a set of Hankooks with a UTQG Rating of 500AA which should last over 50K miles for $73 each shipped. (and that's for 205's) With a price like that, the Yokohamas should be rated for 100K miles to make it worth anything.

I actually cancelled the DTD order and purchased the tires at a local Discount/America's Tire. There was a regional $100 off promotion that DTD was not able to match. Plus, local Discount/America's Tire purchases come with free pro-rated road hazard, whereas DTD purchases do not.

In the end, I paid $67/tire + tax + install for the 175/65-15. At the time, America's Tire's system showed the tire to be $92/tire on special order, which has since increased I believe. Out-the-door was $368.

Although the new Yokohama Avid Ascends are clearly touring tires, they do deliver a ride that is on the firmer side. Turn-in and Steering feedback is on the numb-er side of what I am used to, but probably not out of line for a touring tire. But overall I'd say handling is very impressive for a T-rated tire, IMO, as it is responsive and had plenty of grip.

On the highway the car is a bit more twitchy due to these being the proper 175/65-15 and not the previous 195/60-15. Previously this car had Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S in 195/60-15. Since I have never driven a Fit with the original 175 tires, I have nothing to compare to here. I am not sure if all Fits with 175 tires are squirrely on the highway, or if it's a tire issue.

Fuel economy is definitely quite impressive with these tires, though. I am not sure how they compare to the Ecopia EP422s or ProContact EcoPlus in terms of rolling resistance, but these have to be pretty close if not equal. On the 20 mile trip from the tire shop to my work, I averaged 36.7 over 20 miles of mostly city driving with a number of hills. At the end of the day, before returning the car to my friend, I put in a total of 85 miles and averaged almost 35, with half of those miles being hilly city miles. I do not recall this car ever seeing mileage in this range with the 195/65/15 Exaltos; it was often a struggle to get 35 on the highway.

Overall these Ascends seem to be good tires for a commuter car. The ride is very good, handling is decent and traction seem decent as well. The low rolling resistance properties will also save significant $$ on fuel over a long period of time. Depending on the price, I would definitely consider them again in the future. But if they are priced at over $100/tire, I would rather stick with Michelins.
