EVO owner looking to buy a fit..few questions

In the market for a used fit, haven't made up my mind on which generation yet though. At a high level what is the biggest difference of the two other then looks and the rear seat folding up? Anyone fit a 29er MTB in the back with the seat folded down w/ one wheel off? Can't believe the used prices of the GDs are close to new selling price

I'm not looking to mod...yet, I have an EVO X for that speed junkie in me. I just need something without the 91octane and 18MPG

More room in 09+ for cargo and passengers, a little more power. More amenities.

First Gen is a little more nimble apparantly, i've never driven one, just noticed how small they are compared to mine when I pull up next to them on the street. If you want to mod, there's more available.

For you (with a toy already in the garage) I think 09+ makes more sense given the selling prices of the first gen.

What's a 29er MTB?

It's a mountain bike with 29" wheels.

I can't comment on the 29er but my Redline Urbis fits in without taking the front wheel off. I can measure the usable hatch area if you're interested.

thanks for the input. I'm 6'1 so more room is good. Price of a decent milage Sport GD is 9-10k, price of a 09' GE is 11-13k.

Normal mt bikes are 26" wheels, the new generation of Mt bikes are 29" wheels (same size as a road bike) aka 29er

If you ever do plan to mod performance wise the GD has much more availble in the realm of a K20 swap or boost. If you don't care about performance I think the GE looks much better

not really interested in a swap, being in CA its real PITA to do or worried about it getting jacked. It would be easier/cheaper just to get the RSX-S and gut the crap outta it. Or just put the 10k into my EVO

If I do mod, it would be pretty much aesthetics. Drop, fatter wheel if they fit and carbon bits

I really can't comment on the GD, because I've never seen one up close. I honestly see very few of them on the roads here, but I see at least 3-5 GE's every day.

That probably explains the GD resale value.

As for the GE, there is a ton of room when the seats are folded. I was actually quite surprised. In all honesty, I have never used the vertical seat thing, and think its more of a gimmick.

You should take your bike with you when looking at cars, and see if it fits. That the best way to decide.

Well, one thing to consider is that the first gen fit was on sale in Japan since 2001, so the design of the car is a good deal older than the second gen. That said, the first gen will probably deliver more smiles in the road feel and handling department. The GE is very capable though.

As for the room. I took a trip with 3 other buddy's to pick up an h22 tranny in my fit with a sub box, Comfortably. And still did 80 85 on the freeway.

Nice evo! You won't go wrong with either generations. They both have their own +/-. Good resale value on used fits so if you buy one and decide that you don't like it, you won't loose too much money.
I think it's hard generalize that any 29er will fit in the back upright with one seat folded down.
Take your 29er to the Honda dealer and see if it will fit the way you want it to. I have a 52 cm road bike that fits just fine, but a friend's 58 cm will not fit (without taking saddle off) standing up with a wheel taken off.

I have a 59cm road bike, I don't mind taking off the front wheel. Would like to avoid both wheels getting removed, doesn't have to be upright. I have carbon seat post w/ carbon paste so I really don't want to be re torquing this part too often. I just don't want another roof rack... if I had to, I'd go hitch mount if in a pinch.
