Question 2012 Fit cup holder bulb size

Does anybody know the part number (or size) for the (2012 Fit) bulb that lights up the cup holder area forward of the shifter? It is white right now and I want to change it to blue. Many thanks.

If my guess is correct, it should be a 74 for both the light above the cup holder, and the shifter light as well (autos).

Hey thanks! I just ordered some blue bulbs and will replace both the cup holder and shifter lights to blue. Very cool. Thanks again. Made my day.

How did you replace the lights? From what I can see, the cup holder light is integrated into the dash, and I can't see how to pop that plastic piece to get at the bulb.

Thoughts?

Ok I looked for the DIY and I couldn't find it so I will walk you through it best I can.

The panel comes out. The hinges (the part you should not pull) are located at the long side of the panel closest to you.

The long side farthest is the one you pull on. There are 3 clips that hold it in.

It's gonna be scary. Fair warning.

Take an Allen key. A nice fat one that you can jimmy between the the panel and the rest of the dash. Rotate the Allen key so that it grabs the panel and YANK HARD. Start with the right side away from the 120V plug. The plug will be in the way so you have to push it in to remove the panel. Be mindful of the hinges and remember how it goes in for re install.

Once one clip comes loose (they are pretty tough!) you can slip a finger in there and yank the other two out. Don"t worry you will not break any of them.

Then its only a matter of using a flat tip screw driver to remove the light housing from the panel. Change your bulb and reverse the install.

If you got a bulb that is too high in wattage it will blow your fuse. that's what happen to me. your bulb should be a 14v 1.2w blue bulb. It might be a very tight fit for the new bulb depending on the manufacturer.

good luck!

and let me know how it went.

Dwayne

Hello, noob here. Just got my Fit a few weeks ago, and have been lurking on this site since. I must say that this is an awesome community.

Anyway, I'm looking to replace the bulb above the cup holder. I see that Dwalbert has already posted step by step instructions on how to remove the panel, but I'm not too confident that I understand every step. Would someone please please please make a video or take some pictures and guide me along? I've already tried scouring the internet for instructional videos and pictures, but this is the closest thing I can find. This is my first car and I don't have the expertise yet to attempt this by myself. I would really appreciate it if someone could walk me through this by posting a video or some pictures.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for making the video and taking the pictures! You're right that it does look kinda scary when pulling the panel out. I'm moving this weekend, so I probably won't have time to try it until next week. Then I'll need wait for my LED bulb to ship from Asia. But when it does finally get here, I will definitely post pictures!

EDIT: Just tried to pull the panel off to check it out before I start moving. It's actually a lot less scary than it sounds. I'll probably post a video on how to change the light when my LED arrives.

Quick update: I ordered my led bulbs from eBay. It'll probably take a couple of weeks to arrive. It was an auction for 10 bulbs, lol. Luckily, I worked with the seller and got different kinds (4x blue, 4x white, 2x white SMD). I doubt I will use all of them, so after I'm done, I'm willing to sell the extras for cheap to the fit freak community for their awesomeness!

Got my 74 bulb from super bright LEDs, popped the panel off super easily with a panel popper from harbor freight, swapped it and it works just fine without any modification necessary. Easiest mod to date.

Wheels and spacers get back from the powdercoater, then I'll lower it and save up for the paint work and new custom forged 18s.
