I think best bang for the buck ($8xx) on a street driven car that will see no track time. Will be miles ahead of springs and stock shocks regardless.

 

You'll have to rebuild them after awhile (especially on the B'more streets) and you'll end up paying more. I would wait IMHO but I'm old. :P

Hmmm....which brings up a good question. How long would a basic coilover last on sh$#ty streets vs. a premium coilover like Blistein or Koni?

Agreed that Koni shocks will last forever...same for the coilovers? They're probs only going to make a coilover application for the GE8.

 

what's the spring going to be used for the koni setup? I'm assuming it's going to be a koni yellow and some kind of coilover sleeve. Hopefully ground control coilovers and eibach springs. That's what I plan on building for my GD

 

I was talking to Beaver. of GDD fame a couple days ago and he estimates his Yellows are at about 250,000 miles.

 

They haven't stated yet, but they said spring rate would be open to choice. I would love to just run my Swifts w/ a Koni shock, but due to the contstruction of the Fit they're going to have an easier time selling coilovers as a shock alone would require major additions which would come out to nearly the same price as coilovers.

lowkey, Koni would definitely be better quality, you could order softer springrates and set the dampening soft for comfort. it just depends on if you want to spend the extra money.

 

there's different types of companies that give out a lifetime warranty. the kind that banks on the fact that you'll void the warranty in some way, the kind that hopes you crash your car before you take advantage of warranty work or the company that makes such a shitty product with such a high profit margin that they don't mind sending you a new product.

then there's koni. a company that stands behind decades of quality products. they can afford to have a lifetime warranty because their product rarely needs warranty work done.

tein/junk2/ksport/etc etc etc has a 1 or 2 year warranty because even a shitty product will last that long.
