Am I the only one !

FF'ers

I noticed an odd metallic sound like something dropping while pulling out of my driveway yesterday. Thought it was a rock flying off the tire or my brakes shaking withing the caliper since they do that on my passenger side.

I decided to look around my engine bay while sipping my coffee. I discovered I was missing another intake manifold bolt. This was the bottom left corner. Last time it was the bottom right. What immediately drew my eye was that the area was really clean compared to its surroundings. I checked against the SM and my uncle's fit to confirm bolt placement. Luckily at my last trip to Home Depot I bought a pair, tightened it to spec and we're all set

I have 2 question for the larger community :

1) Anyone else notice this?
2) what could be causing this? I've never removed the Intake Manifold. When I asked the dealership that performed the recall if they would, they said no.

Thanks!

Yea sounds like they didn't torque down all the bolts when they did your repair.

As soon as he began driving again the a/c only put out warm air. The heater definitely works though.

Could we be looking at major work on the car i.e. replacement of an expensive part?
I think you might be new to forums, but you should start a new thread or search for your topic. sounds like you just need to get your A/C charged. you can even do it yourself!

No problems here either, 2012 Sport.

I'd say someone either didn't replace them or didn't torque them enough and they came unseated in travels.

How did they get access to adjust the valves? It seems at least the manifold chamber would need to come off. Didn't you have whistling at some time that was localized to this? Are you talking about the bolts to the engine block or the ones to the chamber?

The only reasonable explanation is someone had them out and didn't reinstall them correctly. The service dept is in full denial mode.

Look in your lower grille and see if there is a hole in your a/c condenser. It's a common problem with fits and you shouldn't need a recharge already. If there is a hole, you'll need it replaced.

I needed to add R134a to our Fit last summer because the A/C was weak as heck. It's not a rock puncture since the shield I put up over the condenser was still in place. It's just under-charged from the factory.

Ours also has a tick in the engine bay. It got better when fuel system cleaner was added, and a mechanic's stethoscope detected the loudest sound coming from the fuel rail. I'm thinking an injector that needed some lubricant.
