What's goin on guys?

Hoping to be a fellow Fit owner very soon. Recently started grad school and commuting has not been comfortable in my s2000 (90 miles roundtrip, 5 days/wk). Now that the semester is over, I'm searching for a good deal on a 2013 TW Fit Sport. Still not sure if I wanna go with auto or manual, though checking the dealership inventories on their websites indicate mainly autos on the lot.

Can't wait to be a part of the community!

Welcome to the forums. Are you keeping the S2K and adding this as a commuter? If so, with your commute, I'd probably recommend the Auto since it is geared higher. It'll be quieter and should get better economy than the 5MT (I'm guessing the S is a 6MT?) If you are trading the S2K than I'd go with the 5MT so you have a bit more sportiness in your drive.

Welcome to the forums. In light of your long daily commute, carefully consider the seat comfort. If you poke around on this forum you'll find a wide range of opinions which vary from "horrible" to "not a problem". I'm in the later camp. I commute 70 miles a day round trip and find the seats fit my need for comfort and support. You may want to take a Fit on an extended test drive to make sure it "fits" your requirements.

Actually sold the S2000 for $12K yesterday so planning to use that as a down payment.

I've been searching a lot regarding the auto v manual debate. I understand manual will be sportier but can't imagine how much of a difference it can really make on the underpowered fit.

Welcome to the forum! Also if your in NorCal, check out our local NorCal club's FB page HellaFit! We have a good group of Fit/car folks who meet up at least monthly for cruises/food/wrenching/photo shoots! Were always looking for more people

As far as the manual vs auto debate, I would argue that ESPECIALLY in an under powered car, an auto will rob even more of the already meager HP and add weight.... If you enjoyed rowing your own gears in the S2K and don't mind a clutch pedal in traffic, then I would very much recommend the manual. If your more concerned with comfort and cruising, the higher gearing of the auto might be for you.

I'm also biased though, SAVE THE STICK!

Welcome to the forum. I like the manual transmission especially going around corners and on ramps downshifting the car seems to take off. I was looking for a white Fit with a manual transmission it is hard to believe that a small car like this it is hard to come by.

Sweet! We have a meet on the 13th your welcome to attend with or without a Fit Not too shabby on the quote either! I got my '08 sport manual out the door for around that, but it took me almost 3 weeks to find a manual let alone the color I wanted!

PS, Here's the link to the meet at D&B: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/car-...ml#post1154476 Hope you can make it!

Remember if you use the Paddle Shifters you can shift early to get better MPG's. . . . . . .

So, how did you get the dealership to give you that great price ??????????????????

My GF's 2013 shifts like WAAAAAY early on its own! like <3500rpm. Still clicking up to 5th to cruise at 35+ or so probably wouldn't hurt LOL

17.5 for a brand new sport manual, DEF a good quote!

So I test drove the Fit and decided with an auto just due to so much commuting. Surprised how decent it felt especially with 4 people in the car. I'm getting quotes of $19.6K OTD.

One thing that did concern me was the road noise. Dunno if it's from the Dunlops or what. I'm really thinking long and hard about it just because my main driving will be 100 miles freeway. Coming from an s2000, I don't wanna hear THAT much road/wind noise.

Hmm, NO ONE likes the stock Dunlops, and the 2012+ models actually got some additional sound deadening... All this is on here though in some form or another in different threads...

Initially I would point to the Dunlops... I drove the GF's 2012 last night, and compared to my '08 it's MUCH quieter, but her's also is on a set of Swift springs...

Any one else have thoughts?

This seems to be the consensus of all my GE friends. They are all running the Conti DW (no s since we never see snow in our portion of nor cal)

OP, The 205 wide tire combined with a slightly soft side wall ought to absorb some of that noise and being a lighter tire, especially on the highway shouldn't affect your MPG. Personally though, my first investment would be in some light weight wheels!

Hmm, STOCK 185 55 16's are 24.0. With a 195 50 16 the speedo will be almost one full mph off a 60mph at 23.7... That will also drop your gearing some... Curious to see what you think of that.

Psht, everyone has RPF1's for a reason! Affordable, light weight and a now classic styling. Cant go wrong there
