Poll: How many read their owner's manual?

I agree, it's poorly constructed (the poll, not the manual).

Sometimes I just get in the driveway and turn on some music and just read away. I've found out so much about it. Matter of fact, I'm going to read it laters toady to find out which spark plugs are recommended and how often to change them.

Based on 50+ years running a shop and more than 5000 customers coming to us with 'problems' in the owner manual:
90% plus have no idea what the owner manual is, much less whats in it.

Read the whole thing, BEFORE I bought my Fit, because I found a copy online and downloaded it.
The reason I downloaded it and read it beforehand was because I had a specific application in mind, flat-towing it behind my RV. Every year, Motorhome Magazine publishes a "dinghy towing guide" that identifies all of the current-model-year cars that the manufacturer says are flat-towable (towed on their own four wheels, not on a dolly or trailer). They used to list the Honda Oddessy as flat-towable, but then published an amended owner's manual that said it wasn't. I wanted to make sure they hadn't done the same with the Fit.
I also printed out the two pages of the manual that gave instructions for flat-towing and laminated them. I keep a copy clipped to the driver's side visor for ready reference.
As a side benefit, when I went for my test drive, I knew more about the car than the salesman did. Except for the nav system; that was a separate manual and I wasn't able to download a copy in advance.

So yeah... that's my book of worship. If ever I need answers to the many questions of a fit lifestyle, I find them there. Of course, I am referring to the OEM repair/service manual, not the pamplets that came with the car.

I've read the factory manuals. Too much legal crap, and the false notion that motor oil lasts a long time. Not in my engine!!, but I did use them to determine the procedure for resetting oil light....Oh yeah, and to change the clock for daylight savings time. Good stuff. But seriously, THE HONDA manual is the best bang for your buck for the DIYer. If you don't have it, get it! There is not a book in print that makes me smile more. Plus it doubles as a booster seat for the kids during the holidays. We all know the old yellow phone books just don't cut it anymore.
