I'm baaaaaaack!

After trading in my '09 Sport 5 speed for a 2011 Ford Fiesta then a 2012 Ford Focus, I came to my senses and purchased a 2013 Fit Sport A/T. Will probably put on a set of Tanabe NF210s. The wheels are Lexani R-Six 18x8 on Nittos 205/40-18s.

Those of us in the MT purity glee-club would consider your senses damaged (not me!).

I would like to hear your logic in making each trade, how much you dropped on each transaction. Won't moralize (I did worse things when I was young, some of them involving cars).

I grew tired of shifting (Honda and Ford) and really liked the new Focus but after a year I grew tired of the loud engine (Duratec GDI) and the lag in shifting (dual-dry clutch) when you accelerate. I am exactly a year from retirement and missed the simplicity and reliability of a Honda.

I'm more into "show" than "go" when it comes to modding.

As for my logic in trading in? There is none and even at my age I am still impulsive as hell though I really hope to hang onto the Honda this time. My wife has an '09 and if I had held onto my previous one, it would have been paid off by now!

Short answer....why not! I'm a wheel guy and I looked at tons of wheels for the Fit but when I saw the Lexani's and how the finish went so well with the Taffeta White I just pulled the trigger. It certainly changed the look. I'm quite pleased.

Do any of you folks have recommendations on springs? I have looked into Swift too but the Tanabe offers a "mild" drop while still maintaining the factory ride. Just looking to decrease the fender/wheel gap.

But 18's really look too big. For springs I would go with swift or RS-R. You need something with a higher spring rate to keep you from rubbing on those things.

I just came back from a trip to Nashville, TN (about 6 hours) and I've had no rubbing issues whatsoever. I think the picture is a little misleading because there is a lot of gap. Many thanks for the feedback though. If I went with a 215 series they would have been wider but taller. At least the 205s are not AS low profile.

Appreciate the advice on springs too.

Sort of a 3/4-life crisis thing? I said I wouldn't moralize, but shouldn't you be buying a Porsche?

Interested in seeing more pics of your car? What's the offset on those lexani wheels?
