Recommendations for wiper blades/refills?
Recommendations for wiper blades/refills?
Wipers are coming apart on my 2009 Fit. My experience with other cars has been that some brands work MUCH better than others. Any wisdom for my Fit's "fiddler crabs?"
Thanks!

Thanks!

I would agree with just buy refills.
If you decide to try an aftermarket, keep your OEM frame as you may decide to go back to OEM. You can prepare another wiper in reserve (whether it's also OEM or aftermarket) so you can swap quickly in an emergency, and allow you to do the refill procedure when you get free time

Thanks, all! And some stuff I've learned.
Got a pair at the local Honda dealer today and just installed them. Here are a couple of tips for anyone else who hasn't replaced wipers before.
1. DO follow the advice in the thread regarding buying the refills from Honda. My pair cost $14 and change.
2. Replacement instructions are in the owner's manual. Be aware that you may have to save and reuse the old metal reinforcement strips from the old ones. I did. I mention this because there may be one or two people out there who have my tendency toward ham-handedness.
3. A fussy bit: My metal strips have a notch on each side. These notches fit little nubs on the channel of the refill. On the new refills, the positions are different on each side, so look carefully inside the refill channel so that you get it right. On the first try, I put my reinforcing strips on exactly as they came off the old one, which wasn't right for the new refills. It helps if you do this in bright sunlight, too.
If I had known about this notch thing, I would have taken photos to post, but I didn't think changing a wiper blade refill would get this complicated.

I have not had to replace the blades or refills yet on my Fit. But I have been very happy with the performance of Sillades on my Accord. They lasted about six years (YMMV). Due to the increased rake of the Fit windshield, I may look into the UniBlade by SilBlade (UniBlades) when I need to replace the originals. I would be interested to hear if anyone has tried them.
