So I tried searching; Question on rims.

So I picked up my Fit this week and I'm really enjoying it. It's a Base.
There's a few things I need to get for it and my short list is as follows;

1. Window Tinting (hot in Florida).
2. Rims
3. Floor mats

I picked up a set of some basic mats so I can put money aside for the U-ACE mats. And I am fine with the basics I picked up.

I'm fairly settled on tinting, just need to figure out who to take it to.

But I am curious on rims. I would love to replace the wheels when these tires run low and I need to replace them. I was going to just stick with 15"s.

I know many of you run Sport editions, but I like the idea of keeping costs low for tires while at least picking up some alloy. Curious on what the car would look like, to be honest. Thoughts? Things I need to consider?

Plenty of posts in the wheel section and the "Fit photos and videos section" for you to look at and find a wheel that you like.

I've done some searching and also looked through those threads. Maybe my searching skills are poor but I see a lot of questions on the steel wheels and not aftermarket 15s.

I found some Fits in the Silver thread and just ran a search there. Konig Heliums seem to be a rim I'd like :-) Here's one I found;

Yeah, the black Konig Heliums would probably be the best for me.. now I need to decide if I should move up to 16" since the weight difference would be dramatic from the steelies I am running now (I think they are like 22 lbs...). The wife-bot agrees on the look upgrade, as well.

Decisions, decisions!

I'm kind of in the same boat. But I'm a bit of a wheel snob, i've been looking at wheels for 3 weeks now, and its probably going to take my a LONG time to get the right diameter, width and offset. Along with finding the right coil overs to drop the car to make the wheels look good. IMO wheels are nothing without a flush drop (unless your 100% into performance). I don't plan on ever tracking my Fit since its a daily driver and don't want to flip the thing.

I'm starting to narrow things down to 17x8.5 +10 range. I love the look of BBS RS on the Fit, but its somewhat played out. I need to start cruising the web some more for better pictures of what other people have done.

AND wheels for the Fit are cheap as hell since you don't REALLY need to go over 17". The wheels I bought for my old 350z were 19x10.5+17 forged aluminum and were $780/wheel!!! Then there is tire cost as well, that car was damn expensive to mod lol.

If you "just want wheels" get the heliums. The company has been around for a while and seems to be doing well.

Yeah, I am trying to keep regular maintenance low though as well. I am not sure 17" tires would do wonders for the benefits the car gave over my last one (MPG, the most important one, next being maintenance - my old car was basically a lemon by 60,000 miles) so I am trying to stick with the 15's or 16's.

I looked at Tirerack and noticed some good wheels for around $80-$90 a tire, which isn't bad. The 16s run $90-$100. And if I can get away with a 15 wheel and tire set, and drop the car later on - then I'm happy.

See, I am trying to cut my expenses to pay off the car *while* doing some minor upgrades. As soon as this loan completes, I will go further and won't mind as much on cost. Some value looks a lot higher than cost. Right now, I value cost. So I am still waffling a bit. Good thing I have plenty of time until I need to replace these OEM tires

The Fit is succeptible to weight changes (especially on the wheels) so be careful that saving yourself $40 on a set of wheels that are just "OK" doesn't end up costing you $50 in Gas because they are 30lbs heavier (for 4). Spend the extra $$ for lightweight wheels and you'll see the benefits in economy, acceleration, braking, cornering, etc... They are the one true/best upgrade you can do to the fit as there is a benefit everywhere with no down-sides. Also Remember that if you buy a set of wheels and upgrade to different ones later, you will not recoup the cost difference if you try and re-sell. If you plan on keeping them for Snow Tires... that's a different story however. I'd expect to recover about half the cost of the wheels in a few years if you plan on reselling, even if in excellent shape. Higher End wheels will hold their value more but things like "Sport Editions" which is Tire-rack's Brand, won't resell for much. - Plus your market for those wheels is dwindling quickly with many companies moving to 5-lug. (Fortunately, there are a ton of Civics and Integras out there Pre 2006/2001 that use the 4x100 setup of the FIT)

Good Luck

~SB

Here is what I would do. I like larger diameters to drive the RPMs (manual) down at highway speed.

In 15 I like the Enkei M52 in Hyper black with Pure Contact 195/65 15s @$87

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....UREC&tab=Specs

In 16 I like the TRMotorsport with PureContact 205/55 16s.

Do you have the Enkei on your Fit?

Edit: Doesn't look like it.

Those are the TR Motorsport in 16. The Honda racing development fit used to have the TR in 15x7 on their fit.

Btw. 1 inch over will rub on speed breaks if you go too fast. At least the 205/55 16s do for the first 15,000 miles.
