Zero cost license plate frame mod

[IMG]http://[/IMG]
After telling the dealer, I would not buy the car, if it had any advertising decals etc. on it, they still put the license plate frame on it, with their name, etc.
I flipped it over, and it's a nice, clean improvement.
I see pictures of highly modded Fits, and some are still advertising for the dealer!

Huh. That's a nice clean way to have a border on the plate without obscuring it. I like it.

I totally agree about the dealer advertising bit. I just paid you $$$ thousand, I'm not giving you any free advertising. All mine were gone within the hour - front dummy plate, sticker on the hatch (on the paint ), rear license frame.

Did you not notice this until you got home, or did you just decide not to raise a stink about it? Just curious.

I've always thought I would do the same thing, but when I bought my Fit, there wasn't anything permanently attached (the dealer sticker was rubber and easily peeled off). If I planned to buy from a dealer that did etched vinyl, I'd definitely refuse to take the car until that was gone.

I saw the plate frame, when I picked it up, but thought the bare plate might scratch the paint, so didn't make a stink. Glad I keep the frame now.

I suppose that's true, but then if it's secured with all 4 bolts, it really should not move at all - it's not like it'll flex in the wind. In fact the plastic frame itself is probably more likely to do it since it'll have more give to it.

That said we're talking about the difference between 1:1,000,000 and 5:1,000,000 in terms of the odds of it happening. As long as you use all four bolts, you should be fine. (Which is why I ended up putting my FitFreak frame on the *front* instead of the back, because on the back, closing the hatch would cause the plate to bounce a lot.)

Who looks at dealer frames anyway?

I once took my car in for service, and the idiots tossed my Disney frames and replaced it with their company frames! As soon as I noticed it, I went right back, and found my $20 frames in their garbage. I was so pissed!

Wow, that would really get my blood boiling!

Did you force them to replace the frames back?

After locating my frames, I left. I didn't want them to touch my car again!

Meh. My buddy is the salesman that sold me my fit. Called and let me know they had a TW Sports 5spd and then held it for me, so I left the sticker on for awhile. It's all off now and a SSR plate frame

Actually that's a smart move! They could be upset and scratch your car with their power tools.

So, they actually stole (as in a crime) your frames! It would be interesting to see what a lawyer had to say about that.

I expect it would be something like...

"How much was that frame? $10? You know I charge $400 an hour, right?"
