First oil change

First oil change
Dealer said it was free on purchase but didn't put it in writing, checked with service dept before making appointment and it's not.
Actually had to read the manual to reset the mm, a slight deviation from resetting the trip or mpg.
Love engineers that design a car and can put the oil filter in an easy place to change, too bad they missed the mark on putting in the new oil, a couple of inches forward would have made it a lot easier.
3.8 Qts called for in manual but 4 Qts doesn't even get it to the top mark of the dipstick. Have read on this forum to get the least resistance run oil at low mark, but I have problems with that, had too many engines that start losing oil without blowing a warning blue cloud. and gas stations don't check the oil anymore
Under normal conditions none needed between changes if you run from the upper mark even with slight burn off.

yeah, the oil filler is in an awkward location, but a funnel works.
I can imagine there's advice about running it low on oil to improve performance but this seems misguided. Consistently running at 20-25% less oil than it's designed for would shorten oil life, and possibly reduce cooling effectiveness (just a smidgen). I can't imagine how this would reduce resistance (it's not using splash lubrication). Then there's the reduced margin for running it low on oil.
Do you have a link to this so I can mock it directly?

No, but it was when I was reading the posts of Hypermilers, shutting down and coasting versus coasting in neutral type of posts so it would be a waste of time to mock.
Funnel worked but had to add 8 inches of tubing to allow funnel to sit upright. for pouring from 5 qt jug, next time I will just get a gallon and pour it in, then it would only take a couple of ounces to get to the top mark.
Happy with almost 40 mpg without a/c and 36 with, no need to go to extremes for any slight differences they would make.

Honda probably has a special one for sale, shop would just set amount and hook on an automatic tube from barrel of Honda special oil. I used mobil 1 full synthetic, will be interesting to see how the mm will see it, and how it affects percents for miles driven.
