Any Interest in the New Fit?

I'm curious how the current Fit owners or non owners feel about the new 2015 Fit that is about to become available? Are people excited about it and eagerly awaiting it, or is it no big deal to current owners? Buzz or just zzzzzz?

The new Fit is interesting to me cuz of the engine and transmission combos. I wish my Fit had a 6th gear and a bit more HP. I think the biggest issue is the style of the new Fit; plus made in Mexico, so quality might be suspect.

I don't understand the quality questions when so much of a car is assembled by automation. We have had 2 generations of JDM production and those have had their quirks also. I like it better than the GE. But I have a GD so i am always glad to have the original.

Given that, how would you explain why, for example, an Acura NSX is far more reliable and better-built than a Chevy Corvette?

That is called Engineering. The Accord has been built in the US for 25 years. Pilot,Ridgeline,Odyssey, Civic, Most CR-V.

Domestics don't spend the money on R&D and development and it shows. And theNSX was a very limited production vehicle compared to a Corvette. If the final assembly point is Mexico I don't think it will make a huge difference on a car like this.

Nice strawman though

I don't like the rear end of the car but I'm fairly interested in the 2015. If they fix the seating position and the price is reasonable, I'll make the upgrade. Otherwise I'll probably trade my Fit in for something that's a bit more comfortable and has a few more bells and whistles.

I'm definitely interested in the 2015, and I'm eager to see it in person. That said, my '09 has just rolled over 70,000 miles, and I figure I'll need to keep driving mine for a couple more years at least.

Just passed the 10K miles and first oil change of a 2012, and I like the improvements but it would not be worth the change yet, maybe after a couple of years of proven high quality production output from Mexico. Leather seats, sunroof, motor and trans improvements I will decide to stick with Fit and not have to change brands to get them.

I think the new Fit will do great, I like that it hasn't grown or become bloated. The slight hp bump and 6MT are both good upgrades.

However I'm also happy with my 2013 so no trade-in's or anything like that.

Now, if they decide to release a Fit SI here then I might be tempted.

I'd get one if I was due for a new car. Unfortunately, I probably won't need one for a few more years.

Yeah, that's the problem with driving a car that lasts a long time. You KNOW the Fit will be around for close to 200,000 miles, so that means next new car will be, lessee, in the year 2033......

I bought my first Honda in 1986, a Civic Si hatch with 5 M/T. Put 193,000 miles on it, sold it to my mechanic in 1999. He used it as a shop car, finally broke the cam in the engine. Put another engine it in, sold it to a guy and I used to see the guy driving around in MY Honda. Oh did I love that little car...... Am soooo glad I have the Fit.

I like the specs on the 2015 along with a few other little nice upgrades like side view camera and bluetooth. Not a big fan of the new styling. However it is a moot point as I am still invested in my 2012 Fit and will be keeping it for several more years.

I will be checking them out when they arrive in the dealerships and I bring my car in for service. Also will be reading with interest here when people start buying them.

They may have added a few more HP to the car but don't forget this new Gen is something like 120 pounds heavier than then GE8. Power to Weight is everything in our cars (and most econobox hondas) which is why a 1.5L motor still has so much 'Pep'. I like what @Stevens24 has to say regarding production for this new model being in Mexico, but somehow it just feels good that my 2010 GE was assembled in Japan and shipped from there.

Must be nice to live in an area where you can actually wear out a car. Up here, no matter what you do, your car will be a structurally compromised rolling pile of rust in 6 years unless you park it from November to May every year.

Biggest worry about a car in Phoenix is the heat. You always get a white car, dark tinted windows and a good sun shade for the windshield. Fight other people for the one spot in the parking lot with shade.

So, I bought my Fit 2 weeks ago. What color did I get? Gray..... Well, it had a 5 M/T and I really liked the color, so... first thing I bought for it was the sun shade for the windshield (it's a BIG sucker). It already has tinted windows. See how well the A/C works when summer hits in 2 weeks (heh heh)
