"Borrowing" GK parts for the GE

I have no intention of getting rid of my GE just to buy a GK. It's not that i dislike the GK, in fact, i rather have the GK's headlight layout (not huge like GD/GE). Its just, it doesn't make financial sense to me.

But, like i said, i like the GK's headlight over the GE. I wonder how much of the frame changed and if maybe, though not likely, some of the parts are transferable.

It seems like i would need the hood, front fenders and bumper, along with the headlight of course.

Now, if it isn't a straight swap or gets "cost prohibitive" (as in, would probably cost less just to sell old Fit and buy new Fit), then, i'll have to shelve such a thought and settle with getting the Spec-D version of dual headlights, and then making fit.

Are you saying you want to convert your front end into the GK one?

Considering that they made the car itself a lot shorter than the previous usdm fit, wouldn't that alone make it a hell of a lot work to fit over the GE fit? Off the top of my head, you'd probably have to cut/shorten the front crash bar and make custom mounting points. Seems cheaper to just buy the GK and sell the GE.

If you want the appearance of smaller headlights, maybe you should just consider eyelids?

Chances are the whole body will be different, and things won't line up. In my experience, most cars are like this between generations, even in cars that look very similar. That being said, I couldn't really compare the two by photo, as the dimensions can seem similar depending on how the photos were taken, and I've never seen a GK in person.

Just on appearance, it looks similar. But i do agree in that i wouldn't expect it to be close to fitting, let alone lining up. It was most just "hopes."

In the past, i didn't like the idea of eyelids. And with the Spec-D headlights, it wouldn't work anyway. The lids would end up covering a few of the lights. Namely the parking light LED is right where the eye lid would go.

Guess i'll have to settle for mis-mounted headlights (can't find anyone selling the Spec-D lights for US Fits)... Again. At least its less expensive.

Honda Jazz / Fit 2008+ Chrome Projector Headlight with Angel Eyes CarGym.com

They also have blacked out version.

Yeah, custom fabbing is up there with the "doesn't make financial sense to me" part. Its fine for those that can afford it and willing to pay for it, i'm just not willing.

It would definitely be an interesting build to watch if someone really did it though.

ok i've seen those now. they make those for LHD too. i've read these type of aftermarket headlights have junk projectors and LEDs. i'd retrofit them again.

+1

you're not going to be very happy with the build quality and output on these.. Even if you like how they look... Like ryu said you'd probably want to retrofit better projectors/LEDs into them. But at that point you might as well retrofit the ones you already got. But if you're doing it purely for that certain look I get that.
