Warranty, extended warranty and servicing..
So I bought a 2014 LX on Friday. I'll be picking it up on Monday and I 'm wondering about oil changes and other service items and schedules and how warranties will be affected if I do them myself.
I suppose I should have asked these questions of the salesman but I wasn't in the mood to buy a used car and I bought this one on the phone. (My wife's mini van blew up for the second time and I just wasn't in the mood for more car BS). So I figured .99% was pretty cheap money and I bought one.

Congrats on the new car. The Maintenance Minder (MM) on the car will "tell" you when it need servicing, or you can view the schedules on the Honda owner website. Unless Canada is different than the US, your factory warranties aren't affected by you or non-Honda techs working on the car. It's a good idea to keep receipts and records though. The Honda owner site has a maintenance/repair log you can use to keep a record.
I was wondering how the warranty applied to owners who have already bought and paid for the car (as in not leased). I'm from Quebec, Canada, and my A/C seems to have died. Wondering if it's covered by the warranty.
You'll need to hear from another Canadian, but I'm pretty sure the bumper to bumper warranty (except for tires, brakes, wiper blades) is in effect for 3 years and 60,000KM (50K?).
It makes no difference whether you lease or buy, the warranty coverage is the same (i.e. if it were out of warranty on a lease, it would be your responsibility to make repairs, and penalties could apply on lease termination if things are broken when you return the car).
Take it in and get your A/C fixed. Some dealers may offer a free loaner car (rental) but it's not included in the coverage here (not sure about Canada).
Edit: 3 years 60K would appear to be the A/C coverage (accessories) in the included factory warranty. I read in the other thread you have 40,000KM and 1.5 years so you're well within warranty. There are extended warranties you could have purchased (may still be able to) but you don't need these yet. I don't think extended warranties are cost effective (you'll pay more than the average repair costs: it's a Honda!)
