LED Bulb Change Out for Taillights
LED Bulb Change Out for Taillights
I am in the midst of converting my stock bulbs over to LED's for looks as well as being more bright on the roads at night.
My query is if anyone knows that after I change out the incandescent taillight bulbs with LED bulbs if there will be a warning signal on the dash or hyper flashing? Bulbs they will be replaced with are below

there would be no errors on your dash. the GE does not have CANBUS. if u use LEDs on the turn signals, you will get hyperflashing unless u get the proper resistor or get one with a built in resistor.
I am all for replacing halogen bulbs with LEDs, however I haven't found a really good Halogen replacement. A lot of the tail light leds just aren't as bright as the Halogen. I would rather have greater light output at the cost of not being able to use an LED bulb.
I've been running SuperbrightLEDs taillights for 1.5 years now. They're just as bright as the oem bulbs. They give real lumens ratings that aren't a complete joke. https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...Specifications 220 lumens. That is 1/2 of the oem bulb, but this is all red instead of full spectrum, so it matches the red-lens filtered output of the oem bulb.

I'm sorry, but that "800 lumens" on the Amazon listing is simply a lie. 33 smaller LEDs are not going to be four times as bright as 45 bigger LEDs, especially at 1/3 the price. You get what you pay for.

My question though is because they are only producing light output to about what the oem halogen bulb is, why replace them at all. Most people change to HID to get more light output, I doubt any one would install HIDs if they produced the same result as halogen bulbs.
Lower power consumption - you know how these cars have TINY little batteries. Faster light-up when applying the brakes. Because I like the look. I'd get HID's as well, for the lower power consumption, if they didn't completely screw up the headlight pattern.
I agree with PaleMelanesian. The LEDs reach full brightness faster than a filament bulb with the end result being that it can grab others attention faster. Lower power consumption is certainly a benefit. The LEDs should outlive filament bulbs, too.
One thing about light output: The lights on a vehicle fall under legal requirements and thus their light output is likewise controlled. Imagine the joys of driving if each vehicle could have different colors and brightness of the lights. Haha!
I have to give props to SuperBrightLeds.com, too. I've used them a couple times in the past and really like their products.

Or pay $130 for a pair of Depo LED tail lights like i did. I tried the LED bulb route and they arent quiet as bright in the day, they are sometimes hard to see. The reflectors are designed for a incandescent bulb so they aren't optimized for narrow 20-30 degree beam patterns led's generally have even with them in multiple circular pattens.
