Side mirror replacement help

I really enjoy driving the wife's Fit and before you know it, I already started buying stuff for it. One of the things I bought is a Spoon replica side mirror, which I know the wife will hate, but I'm putting it on anyway Lol!

The mirror is meant to re-use the existing door mount/base. I know the side mirror is only being held on by 3 bolts, but I don't want to just cut the wiring harness for power adjust/heat.

Question is, if I go the long route and undo the connector inside the door, will I be ale to pull the door mount off the side mirror itself without cutting the wiring harness? Help and thanks!

No need to cut any of the wires. Just undo the clip inside the door panel and you can remove the whole mirror assembly with wire harness attached.

Thanks for the reply.

I've seen those videos but once I remove the entire mirror assembly, I will need to split the OEM mirror from it's base/door mount so I can re-use the base for the spoon mirrors.

Spoon mirror (no base):

OEM mirror (with base)

From the video, it seems that the connector at the end of the harness will not go through the base when I pull them apart.

One way to find out is to take it off. Why would you want to lose the heated mirrors? I replaced my covers with ones with winkers then added the arrows under the heating elements.

I guess taking it apart and seeing for myself is my only option.

I'm taking out the heated mirror as the the fit is parked in a garage all night and even my wife's workplace has covered parking. Like I said earlier, the wife will hate this and I can't blame her. I just think these mirrors look really nice and want to try it on. That's why I don't want to cut the harness. If it doesn't work out, I'll just swap it back.

You are missing the joy of scraping twice a day.

I cannot recall when I did mine if the plug will come through the base.

While your new ones look cool I prefer the larger stock ones for a better view.

P.S. Just checked my shop manual. The plug will not pull through the base. Nothing in the manual showing how to disconnect the wire from the actuator bit behind the mirror or if it is possible.

Thanks for taking the time to look at the shop manual, really appreciate it. From watching he video, it seems there's a screw in the middle of the door mount/base. I'm hoping when I undo that, it'll give me clearance to pull the connector through. Gonna start taking it apart in an hour, fingers crossed.

Wife's gonna be pissed! Lol! She's coming home to a "spoon" inspired Fit! Lol

Next up, coils.... Or maybe not lol! I'll let this sink in first.

well if she doesn't complain, then you know she doesn't use her side view mirrors

This'll teach her to shoulder check!

But in all seriousness, I took it for a drive and the visibility isn't too bad. The mirrors are convex and shows quite a bit. Might take some getting used to though. "Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear" literally!

Hi Norm,

I bought the same mirrors and they're on the way. Did you find away to pull the connector through or what?

Cheers

Looks great!

How were you able to pull the plug through the base?

You can pull the connector through with no issues.

Once you pull off the rubber seal you will see 2 screws to remove. When the 2 screws are removed you can remove the metal base from the plastic housing and pull the connector through.
