Does anyone recognize where these bolts come from?
Does anyone recognize where these bolts come from?
Okay, here's an unusual request, but I'm hoping someone in this forum can assist me.
My 2009 Fit Sport was sideswiped while parked on the side of a road during a snowstorm. There was driver side damage all the way from the rear bumper up to the front driver-side wheel panel. It wasn't too bad (no shattered windows), and the car was still drivable, so it was mainly cosmetic damage. I took my Fit to the body shop recommended by my insurance company, and all seemed well when I picked up my repaired vehicle on Saturday. But while driving home, I heard something rattling around, looked in one of my cupholders, and found these two bolts.
I know for a fact those bolts were not in my cup holder before I took in the car. The body shop technician insists that he found the bolts in the cupholder before he even started working on it, and that no bolts are missing from my Fit. So in essence, wherever they came from, it's not his fault. Again, I have no idea how they got there, but I didn't put them there. I don't even remember the last time I used a ratchet wrench or a nut driver.
So ... does anyone recognize where these bolts might have come from on my Fit? They look like something that might be used to fasten a panel to a frame, but I really can't be sure. If I had an idea where to start looking for the holes they came from, I could do a little checking on my own, but I'm not going to start blindly disassembling parts of my car.
Any suggestions or thoughts?

Realistically, it could be a number of things... it could be:
Bolts that hold the window rails.
A bolt that holds the door lock actuator.
Bolts that hold the door handle.
Bolts that holds the headlight to the car.
Bolts that hold the hood hinge.
Door hinge (as already mentioned).
And a bunch of other things that require tearing into the Fit to find out.
Maybe it used to a bolt for something that got replaced by new bolts that came with whatever part.
