axle-back exhaust

My exhaust, on my 2010 base, will most likely need replacing soon. Been looking for a bolt-on replacement that is more free-flowing.
Anyone know of a particular brand that offers an axle-back exhaust that sounds good?

No aftermarket axleback is going to really be all that much more free flowing.

The Tanabe Touring Medallion is what I have on my car.

It is fine. No Honda Fit with the stock L15 will ever really sound good.

Also, this topic has been touched on hundreds of times. Search past threads on the matter.

I too have the Tanabe Medallion and really like it. It is not brash like many others. Fit and finish is very nice.

A lot of good comments on the Tanabe. I'll prob go with it.
My next question is.....compared to the stock muffler, is the Tanabe much louder? Or is it just a different sound?

its louder but not obnoxious. its a nice smooth tone which, especially on an MT GE, you will enjoy the note each time you accelerate or blip to downshift, etc.

I wouldn't say that it is louder but it does have a low tone to it. Maybe the way to say it is the the Tanabe has a more "sophisticated" sound to it versus running a straight pipe in / out of a can.

I had an ill-fitting rear hatch cover (plastic interior cover) that would buzz at certain exhaust frequencies but only during the winter (plastic shrinkage). I still like the Tanabe system.

Thanks for the comments.
I just now ordered the Tanabe. It's called the Medallion Concept G. Not sure, but I think it's their newest form of the Medallion.

Tanabe Medalion Touring Exhaust - Honda Fit 09-14 | Evasive Motorsports

This is what we're talking about.

(How do I know it is the one kenchan is talking about? Because it is kenchan's old exhaust)

All my comments pertain to the Tanabe Medalion Touring #T70143A that I have on my '11 Sport AT. Not the one you ordered.

Thanks for alerting me to my mistake.
Called them, and they are switching it to the Touring.

Not a mistake if that is what you want. I only have experience with #T70143A, so all of my comments were about that system. Others might be to your liking. No way for me to tell. Best of luck.

After looking at side by side pics of both, it looks like the concept would be louder...bigger muffler outlet and shorter outlet tip. I don't want something that would be noticeably loud or irritating while driving. The concept very well might be a better performing exhaust...just don't want to take the chance without hearing someones opinion.

WD40 is your friend when dealing with the rubber hanger. Make sure you don't lose the gasket between the old / new system.

Yep...already bought a new gasket. Any exhaust pipe over a few years old..the gasket usually is welded to the pipe and breaks apart when removing.

I've deleted my rear muffler and it sounds good. Not too loud, not buzzy, I spend most of my time one the highway with no issues.

This is mine.

At the time it was puking the catalytic converter after I used Lucas Ethanol gas treatment (green stuff). No sure what happened but I was pumping out a big noxious gas / steam cloud while depositing noble metals on the tip. It was gritty and had to use fine steel wool to clean it up. Took 4 tanks of gas for things to go back to normal.

BTW, the picture file has a tear in it and everything is round / normal.
