Jerky when turning at full lock

Today I was pulling into a parking spot with the wheel turned full left and noticed a bit of popping. It felt like when the rear diff on my Pontiac had leaked all the fluid out and I was popping teeth when turning. Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is the tire giving way, slipping perhaps from the angle of the inside tire being sharper than the overall turning radius. Maybe.

I bet your CV boots are cracked and moisture has gotten in as the grease has leaked out. Look in the front wheel wells and underneath the car to see if grease is splattered all over the place. If so, one or more of your boots has a crack and needs replacing.
