I have a p0301 and considering I coooulllld go buy a whole new coil or basically take the boots off and save 1/4 the cost on all four. Is it the actual pack that fails or only the coil plug boot that fails?

coil price: 40$/per
Plug boot: 12$/per

Before doing anything expensive, check that all of the spark plugs are tight (approx 13-18 lb-ft of torque). Needlessly, many coils have been replaced when all it was was a loose spark plug.

boots can be found on Amazon. I found an inexpensive 4pack coil set and went with that. Still did not clear.
