Door Armrest Improvement

OK, not rocket science but I found the armrest in the Fit's door to be too low and too hard for comfort. So I made up a small beanbag out of a cloth sunglass sleeve and it works great to rest my elbow on. It's not perfect, the bag will fall off if you slam the door, but it's something to pull out for an extended drive. I have an inner ziplock bag to contain the "beans", and in my case the "beans" I found were some desicant granules from a chemistry lab. I made a second one to add about an inch of height to the Sport center armrest too. That door armrest on the Fit was probably my biggest gripe, and this works as an easy fix for me.

Innovative. I too was disappointed with the lack of arm support. However I have found that I am now driving like you should be i.e. 10 and 2 position. I do this even if driving long distances say 1 hour on freeway. No moe dangling one hand on the bottom of the wheel like I was doing in my Minivan. I am poised to make that evasive move to avoid the Azz ahead of me.

Good thinking. I'll have to think of something similar. That door arm rest seems more like an afterthought. Like you said, it's way too hard and low, not to mention too far forward. Honda failed on this part.

I'm hoping to find the center arm rest accessory installed so I can make sure it's at the right height before buying one of those, too.

I thought the computer wrist rest Occam cut to fit really looked comfy, too.

Yeah... update on that. I tried it out, actually driving. They lasted about a mile. Not nearly as comfy as they looked!

I moved to a "phase II" solution. It seems much better. Basically, I cut a thick mouse pad (firm, but some cushioning) to the needed shape, and covered the cutouts in a leather grained vinyl. They look decent enough - clearly an addon, but not bad. I'll take some pictures later.

When a cop pulls you over... try to explain that big bag of white powder that you just happen to be hiding in your car. LOL.

Wow, a big baggie of what looks to be crystal meth (not that I have any idea of what crystal meth looks like).

Maybe I should have used some "magic beans" instead.

The safest hand positions are in the 4 and 8 or 5 and 7 due to the airbag, also these positions limit the amount of overreaction.
