Driver door armrest hurting my elbow- WTD?

After about a month of driving, I'm realizing that the lack of padding on the door armrest is a serious paint in the elbow! Any ideas for softening that area, that would look clean and stay put? I'm considering finding a mouse pad with good padding and using a piece of it for elbow padding- but that could be ugly.

drive with your left hand. problem solved.

or

you can get a gel wrist rest mouse pad and cut out the mouse pad part and bond the gel to your door's armrest.

or

(most expensive option) get a padded armrest done from custom fabrication.

I already do drive with my left hand. It's looking like something cheap and ugly is in my future.

Maybe something along this line would work.

Yeah, I tried with my arm in that position, but I think I need to keep my elbow down at the arm rest height. It's seeming like gluing a mouse pad or something on there is going to be the best bet. I just have to figure out a way of doing it that doesn't look too frankenstein.

Instead of adding something to your car, consider adding something to your arm...like a padded elbow protector that you can slip on and off as needed. I am visualizing something similar to what you would wear if you were on a skateboard. Just something to think about! Hope this helps.

If you elbow hurts do not put it on the armrest. Simple eh.

Personally I find it too low to use. I have a very sloppy grasp on wheel when driving my van but with the Fit I find I tend use the 10 and 2 position most of the time.

Armrest Pad

This is what I did:

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...tml#post719775

It's not perfect. It falls off easily, but for long highway trips it stays put and really helps.

Also, if you want to try sticking something on, Walmart sells self-stick foam sheet material (like a thin mouse pad material) in the crafts/sewing area. It comes in sheets about a foot square. Craft stores must sell the same stuff.

I noticed that a certain company (COUGHZETACOUGH) makes door armrest pads to cushion the elbows of drivers of certain non-Honda vehicles (COUGHSCIONCOUGH). Sure would be cool if they made one for the Fit, espcially since I love their center armrest and wouldn't think twice to buy another product from them.

How about you take the door liner off. Take off the old fabric, and put padding down then lay some new softer fabric over it.

I think Honda made a big mistake here. I have the 08 and 09 Fit. The 08 door armrests are comfortable... the 09 door armrests are useless and uncomfortable. I'll have to try the padding.

I had the same problem and saw a post on using a computer wrist support from Office Depot. I got one, pulled it off the rubber backing it comes on and double stick taped it on the armrest of the door. It is perfect for comfort, sort of a gel with black nylon surface. The oval shape it comes in fits pretty good on the armrest too.

I used a mousepad, cut to shape, and covered in leather-grained vinyl. I attached it with stick-on Velcro. Two months later, no complaints:

Just a thought but maybe yours is cracked like so many others have and that's why it's uncomfortable. I hold the steering wheel with my dominant left hand so I don't use the armrest much but mine is still cracked and when I try and put my elbow there it sinks in and gets pinched by the cracked plastic.

Mine started to crack as well. Hopefully having the force distributed under the custom armrest pads will prevent any further damage.
