CEL after intake install

So I installed my T1R intake a couple days ago.. Drove for about 50kms and a check engine light came on. I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes and put it back and the CEL was gone. Drove for another 50kms after that and the CEL came back on. Checked all connections and they're all fine. Anyone know how to clear the code or know what's wrong? Thanks..

check the map sensor make sure there is no leak there. just use a little soupy water around the sensor. pretty sure that will be your problem.

Try checking for leaks around the throttle body area. Use one of those brake/parts cleaner, or a throttle body cleaner and spray the area to the left of the intake clamp (right between the throttle body and the intake clamp). Try maintaning a steady stream and spray around the throttle body. Using one of those small staw that's inculed with the spray. Try to spray under the TB also using the straw by bending it while you spray. Just try and look for where the most probable leak is.

If the engine stumbles while you're spraying, then you've found the area where the leak is.

Are you sure everything is connected? How about the breather hose for the valve cover??

It's strange that it comes on after driving the same distance twice in a row. You may need a code reader if what has been suggested doesn't correct your problem.

Hey K20,

Didn't I mention to try and look for where the most probable leak is? I just suggested that the TB might be one of the places to look for some leaks since there is a MAP sensor at the intake manifold and a MAF sensor where the intake is.

But, from your user name here, you are probably the better person to listen to so, you have the throne and I hope the OP fixes his/her problem.

i have the same intake system had a simular problem. there is no right or wrong. probably something simple though. it could be in between the throttle body and the intake.

No sense in guessing at anything without knowing what the code is for . . . it's why OBD exists, to point you in the right direction of a problem. If you don't have an OBD2 reader (or don't want to get one), most auto parts stores will check it for free.

sorry if I am not remembering correctly (I put my intake on over a year ago).........

I seem to remember the MAF being directional, and it could be installed backwards maybe.

Again this was some time ago, just offering up info!

Thanks for the input. The maf holes only lines up one way with the plug facing the driver side. I will try and reinstall everything later today and see what happens. If the CEL comes back on I'll try a OBDII reader. K20...I'll let you know if I need help with this.

I think it is pretty common on the GD3s for the CEL to com on after messing with the intake but the GE I don't know about.

i installed my T1R intake and exhaust over 5000km ago. in the first couple thousand, the light would come on and off randomly. But for the last couple thousand, its been constantly on.

you do have to check the code and see what comes up, apparently. It hasn't bothered me too much, but i'm gonna get it done soon.

just know that if you go to a dealership to get it done, they will most likely charge you half n hour of labor just to check it and not fix it.

This happened to me when I installed my Takeda intake. It turned out to be a vacuum line that wasn't fully connected.

Did you talk to AJ Racing since you're in BC? Sorry don't know if it's too far of a drive or not but wouldn't they be the best people speak with?

The CEL came back on after about 40km of driving... My brother has an OBD2 reader so I'll see what codes come up later today.

Dang I hope you get this resolved. Let us know when you figure out what the deal is.

Unfortunately, I don't have any solutions/suggestions over what everyone else has already discussed.
