the honda fits (atleat GE8) have got to be the easiest, in terms of painting, blackhousing project ever. my CB7 (fourth gen accord) you had to tape off the reflectors. before painting, any shot/ spary into a box/ corner shaped light.

since I like 100% chrome headlights and only want to get rid of the orange, can i just pop the orange reflector out and be done with it? (is it chrome and closed underneath the reflector) or did i need to paint it sliver/chrome and leave it in?

you can take them off. but i have to say it looks like Sh!t.
That was my plan till i took it off and looked at it.
Then i just kept them on.

Thank you DIY guy!

I just finished painting my headlights and rear diffuser. Your DIY post has motivated me to paint my own. Thank you greatly! Made it so much easier!

I'd like to see a close-up pic of the end-result on your car. I love the look on the silver and darker Fits but I'm really curious as to how it would look on my white one.

anyone tried this with the GE taillights? i think the the tails on the GE would look awesome with all the silver of the trim painted black but leaving the red areas red. i tried cooking mine but they would NOT come apart. just wondering if anyone's found a way. thanks

Great write up. I'll be using this when I do my projector retro fit, accord horn, and oil cooler. Might as well get everything done at once.

can't do it to the tail lights. they are permanently glued together. just stuck
with what you got or can order.
