GE8 Rear Disc prototype

Thought I'd share, (phone/camera pics) just waiting for the ss brake lines before I can test, be a few weeks since I'm finishing up the tranny in my Celica prepping it for a race.

Sweet. I'm down for a set.

BlueBoogers 08-31-2012 04:26 PM

I'm in. Which calipers--RSX?

If so, I have some back from powdercoating / rebuilding that would be perfect and would match my NSX fronts.

The brakes were done to use personally when I take the Fit Road racing.

Unfortunately i'm not a sponsor on this Forum in order to sell.

They are Civic SI with 9 1/2" Rotors, I've seen RSX calipers, but don' have one in hand for a side by side comparison. :(, the good thing about my setup is with a change of one of the bracket a larger rotor can be used.

I just receive the Goodridge brakelines & will install everything soon to test. If it works as expected, I'll let you guys know.
I have the drawings & have to convert it to a cad file
I'll have to figure out how to sell here & contact the guy who've cut out flanges for me. This most likely will be for the "Brackets" only, Civic SI rear calipers & rotors are readily available used so in the end will cost less than $800

Thanks for looking
Pat

Pat,

You're definitely welcome to sell these, but you don't need to make a "vendor" thread or anything, just a for sale thread to sell them--moderators are lax and admin never come around either. If I can supply measurements of these RSX rear calipers to compare, please let me know. They're literally in a box in my living room.

Are you using SI calipers as well? And do you think the front calipers could work?

Awesome job BTW. It looks like you put a lot time into this project.

Well thats good news.
You can start by posting some pics of the caliper & let me know what the part# is on it. The more complicated measurements are the mounting hole centerline & mounting offset. I know the RSX rears are in the 10" dia.

Thanks,
The SI fronts are the same size as ours, 10.3"

If this setup doesnt work for me on the track I'll do a 12" 2pc rotor & 4 piston billet caliper that weights in at 11 lbs.

btw this rear fit conversion comes in at 14 lbs exactly the same as what was removed to do it.

The mounting holes looks the same, now the offset....but it looks just about the same as the SI's
Let me get the brakes on then we can go from there.

Seems like good news... an alternative to a full JDM rear trailing arm assembly swap.

Keep us updated... :wavey:

Impressions so far now that the pads are bedded. Better modulation, crisper feeling while easy braking. Vast improvement in panic stopping from 45mph with & without abs going off, nice & straight. With the drums the multiple panic stopping from 90mph was, lets say interesting, now with the OE disc pads (which will be fine for 90% of you guys) is more resistant to fading.
Currently in the process of converting the drawings to a cad file in order to get quotes for the brackets (4 pcs.), most likely made of steel. One machinist I spoke to wanted a minimum quantity of 10 in order to make the cost reasonable, so the 1st sets may have to be a group buy to cover the cost of the cad guy.
Pat

Wafulz 09-21-2012 06:12 PM

shit well let me knw when ur ready for group buy and how much cuz them drums ya lol not cool lol
