Lift Kit for a Honda Fit?
Hey all, I own a 2010 Honda Fit Sport. This winter I was thinking of putting a lift kit on my Fit with tires since I had a bad experience last winter. Is it possible to put a lift kit on a fit?

just about anything is possible, with time and money. Is there a bolt on kit out there for the Fit? pretty sure there is not. With some back yard, redneck engineering I am sure you could figure something out.

I don't think you would want to necessarily put a traditional truck style lift kit on a Fit
If you are serious but getting some additional ground clearance you could go the route of the official Honda Performance Dvision Fit Rally car
Rally Racing - Honda Performance Development
Here is that cars specs:

From what I can tell they are using a custom Billstein coilover setup which you could also run a something similar and switch it out much easier than a truck style lift kit

205/55R16 Tires?
I'm one of the few freaky people who actually want to raise my fit up a bit for more ground clearance. I drive my 2011 fit sport to three different farms I own and often out of town to rifle matches that put me on dirt roads with varying degrees of uneveness. I have a set of 205/55R16 tires I plan to install as a replacement for the stock 185/55R16 tires, which are about 1" in diameter larger, giving me about a 1/2" increase in ground clearance (every little bit helps). I'd rather not modify the suspension, so I'm going with what I percieve to be a modest tire upsize.
My question is has anyone else made this swap and have they had any problems with tire rub?

I'm not sure if the available coil overs will allow any but on my A4 Audi I used to raise them to max height in winter when I was living in Iowa as they plowed roads day after snow usually. I got stock +1.5" height and it was night and day difference on roads with up to 2' of snow hah!

as someone said before there are some spacers you can install to raise it a bit. also of interest may be that the base model spring/struts sit higher than the sport model (I've never been able to get numbers on that) but for reference, I have a good 4 finger gap between rubber and fender at all corners

the 205 just makes it wider not taller.

I realize this is an old thread, but having been a tire guy for a few years seeing this kinda stuff on one of the forums I use for sourcing build info is disheartening.
In tire size, the first number is the tread width (never bothered to learn the measurement unit but I assume metric because the alternative used primarily for larger light truck tires is us standard). The second number is an aspect ratio. The height number (second number set) for a tire size is actually represented as a percentage of the tire width. Example: 205/50/r15. The height is half the width. By adding width and maintaining the same height number you do infact increase overall diameter of the tire.
That pretty much sums up two years of my life.

Going from 185/55/16 to 205/55/16 doesn't just get you nearly a half inch of ride height, it drops you from 840 revs per mile to 811. That's 3.7% farther for every turn of the wheel, a nice bonus to your mpg if you spend more time cruising than playing stop/start.

Hey guys lots of confusion over tire size differences.
I created this spreadsheet with formula to do math for me.
you may find it useful. I could add the rotations as Charlie mentioned but I just was trying to get quick way to tell which tires will eat my fenders.
Let me know if anyone wants the rotations added. FYI there are calculators on the web as well but most are block by my work proxy servers so needed a local copy.
