Cool Who needs cool wheels...

So, I have decided that since A: the stock sport rims are as light as most aftermarket rims and B: I dont have a $1k+ to drop on rims/tires , that I am just going to get spacers/adapters to flush the rims with the fenders. Since, Thats really all I want new rims for, to get that flushness.

And possibly in the future I would like to powder coat my wheels. Most likely a gun metallic, MAYBE a bronze. Doest anyone know or seen stock ge wheels painted??? All I could find was this pic:http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2668/...25497dd3d6.jpg

Thoughts on spacing/painting the wheels?? I know it hasn't been discussed much on the ge side of the forums other than this thread https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...e8-wheels.html.

Oh and as far as spacers..... thread is 12x1.5 right..?
So these should work without having to worry about the studs being too short:
Kics Wheel Spacer - 20mm / 12x1.5mm / 4 x 100: Evasive Motorsports | PH: 626.336.3400 Mon-Fri, 9am-6pm PST

Anybody running Project Kics stuff?

I would look at spacers with less than 20mm! Check out these sites for more info and a wider variety of spacer offsets:

Bildon Motorsport - Volkswagen Racing Parts

Volkswagen 337/20AE 1.8T > Wheels > Spacers > ECS - ECS Tuning Inc

There are more companies that make/sell wheels spacers you just have to search around for them! I don't know if these spacers will fit so it's in your best interest to contact the companies before you buy to make sure the spacers will fit! Post some before/after pics if you get the spacers! Goodluck!

i ran these on my old LS430 to flush out my wheels. the fronts were project kics 15mm and rears were ebay special 25mm. ran these for amonth until the the front got loose. car was wobbling like crazy on the freeway. took it right out that night. the rears (ebay spesho) actually stayed on pretty well even though the rears were cambered more.

could've been that it wasn't properly torqued by the shop. who knows. i took it out cuz that scared the shet outta my cheeks.

Gsnake. 20mm would certainly work, but if you want a really nice flush look with no poke, I would go with 25mm in the rear and maybe 10mm in the front. Don't have any on the fronts yet, but have been contemplating it.

Here is my rearr (stock wheels) with a 25mm spacer, no rubbing!

Awesome, glad I could help.

From what I've read, spacers are just fine so long as you don't drive like you're on the track. I would obviously, definitely get the bolt on spacers, not the ones that just slide over. You don't need extended studs if you get bolt on spacers.

There is no way around the fact that spacers put more stress on the studs, but like I said, just don't drive it like you stole it.

NO oem wheels are not as light as most aftermarket wheels, you're probably just looking at 26's

OEM wheels are about 18 lbs a piece. Heavy, but not absurdly heavy.

Even though I just got aftermarket rims I love the stock sport wheels on the Fit and yes, they are light weight (37.75lbs with the stock tires) and the style is sweet. Wheel spacers and slightly larger tires (205-50's) would set if off perfectly

You could look for hub-centric spacers if stress is a concern. These spacers have an extension for the center spigot on the wheel hub because that's where the weight of the car goes on a wheel - usually not on the lug studs. If you notice on stock Honda wheels, they're usually made so that the wheel's center bore lines up nice and tidy with the center spigot on the hub assembly.

So far I think Eibach is the only manufacturer that has spacers of the hub-centric kind. Maybe I've overlooked a couple manufacturers though.

FYI/HTH

I've had hub-centric rings machined for my old Rota Circuit 10s. The center spigot diameter for our cars is rather small, about 55.6mm.
