+38 offset for winter wheels on 09 GE8?
+38 offset for winter wheels on 09 GE8?
ok... so I searched and found what I THINK are some of the answers that I need but... want to be sure before buying some wheels.
I have the opportunity to pick up some wheels that look like they came from a 1991 Accord Wheels in good condition (guy states they came off of a civic so they should be 4x100, 56 center bore, 15x5.5 wheels but am not sure about the offset.) I'll be using these for my Snow tires and will likely pick up a set of 185/60/15" generals or winterforce tires but don't want to deal with rubbing.
The car is not lowered (will never be)
I think the wheels are either +36 or +38 offset and the stock fit sport wheels are +53 which means the outer face of the wheel/tire will be pushed out 15mm (closer to the Fender). I've read that there are others out there running a +43 offset with a 205 width tire and if I am calculating correctly, a 205 tire is 20mm wider (10mm pushed further out from stock) and the +43 offset pushes the wheel (& tire out another 10mm). This puts the face of the wheel/tire 20mm further out than stock.
if the 205/+43 setup works fine with no rubbing, a 185/+38 setup will work just fine because it's 5mm further in than the 205/+43. (and if I went with 195's, the face would be the same distance as the 205's?)
Is my logic flawed here or am I good?

Thanks, the info overall is hepful. Unfortunately, the wheels WERE from an Accord and not from a Civic like he said so they were 4x114 and not 4x100; Not going to work. Oh well, They were in really nice shape too and I think they would have looked decent on the car. (also, they were 40 offset - would have been just fine)
