Need Tire Help!!

I have the stock 185/55/16's on my car now and am needing a new set. I am having a hard time finding many options in this size. My question is, how will I be affected by going to a up to a 195?

Here, Tire size calculator That's a simple calculator you can use to compare tires and see what changes will occur when you swap to a different size. MOST people are comfortable with around 1% amount off on the speedo @ 60 mph.

If you want to get super detailed, Custom rims, wheel tire packages for your ride - RIMSnTIRES.com This one is my favorite! It lets you compare two full wheel and tire setups....

Hope that helps!

From all the research I've done I would recommend going to 205/50/R16. It's almost exactly the same diameter as stock, so it won't affect your speedometer and it gives you about an extra inch of tread width. Everything I've read says that the extra width makes the Fit handle much better. My short list of tires in this size and the ones I'm considering once I wear out the stock ones are:

Kumho Ecsta 4X 205/50/R16
Continental DWS 205/50/R16

Many people also say that these tires are noticable quieter than stock and give a smoother ride, which is a plus.
Good luck with your decision!

^ Completely agree. If your in an area that never sees snow or regular temps below 40, the Continental DW in 205/50R16 gets my vote!

I know that's the summer tire, but how does that one compare to the DWS? Any difference in handling, ride, wet traction, etc.?

I'm pretty sure I'm set on the Kumho Ecsta 4X over the DWS, but only because the consensus seems to be that with the DWS gas mileage will go down or at best stay the same. Poeple with the 4X's seem to keep or get better gas mileage.

My friend has the DW's on both his and his GF's GE's. Daily drives the crap out of them year round and gets solid MPG.

My AutoX research says the DW is nearly as fast as the top shelf summer tires in the dry BUT MUCH faster and actually safe in the rain LOL

I run the Ecsta 4X in 205/50/16 It's a great tire in all conditions.I gained 1-2 mpg after the change and will replace with the same tire when the time comes.

I also ran Conti DW on my Mustang and they offer plenty of grip and for a summer tire do well in the rain.

The Kuhmo 4x does not bulge in 205/50 on the stock sport wheels and the wider footprint is noticeably wider then the 185's

I've noticed that the tread width on the stock Dunlops is narrow even for a 185 size tire. The last time I was at the Honda dealership getting service done they had a used Fit on the lot with Bridgestone tires in the 185/55 stock size and they were noticeably wider than the Dunlops.

I'm with most of the other guys on here, I don't see why Honda doesn't put 205/50/R16 tires on the Fit to start with. They look and perform better and I bet they would sell more cars with that size as stock.

I called the dealer to check prices. They didn't have 185 in stock, they recommended 205/50 as a replacement. I think after everything I have read 205's are the way to go. Anyone have pic of them on a fit?

Well its a work car 50k miles per year. Kinda torn between cheap boring tires or some nice performance tires. Kuhmo Ecsta AST $61.00 at my local shop or Bfg G-force super sport a/s 118.00 same shop. Any thoughts on the Ecsta AST?

There are some pics of the Continental DWS 205/50/R16 on this page:
