Cheap ram air

I wanted a cheap system to getcold air into the Fit. The rubber part of the airintake is removable by unclipping. I made an extension out of an old aluminum liscense plate I cut up. It slips under the end of the air intake at the radiator and bridges the gap to the top of the grill. I painted the adapter flat black. By removing the rubber flap a the front edge of the hood on the drivers side and opening is created to fed cold air into the tube. You can make a new top half to make a tunnel to the front if you want. The good thing is mod is easily changed back to stock if needed. Here are a few pictures

That's a pretty 'cool' idea. How do you like it? Does it seem like it works?

How it works

I have not really driven since I just made the mod. Do not worry I will report here. I have an electronic thermometer I may place at the input of the tube to see how the air temp compares to the outside temps. I do like the fact I lost one of those sharp turns on the air intake though.

Losing that first 90 degree turn is an improvement. Looking forward to reading about your results.

First drive with cold air mod

Gone about 200 miles now with the mod in place. I like it so far performance seems better at highway speeds. Small increases in performance can be subjective without true data to back it up. Air intake noise level did not increase at all. I want to keep it like this for now to get more time running it. Overall I like the mod.
