What do you think of an intake like this?

Looks functional, wonder what it does to the torque curve? How does it make the FIT feel?

I like how it still incorporates the front intake. I never understood the intakes that didn't since that is getting a lot of fresh air versus the air inside the engine bay. Is the black cylindrical part the filter element?

Any actual dunno numbers? If it doesn't function positively, it doesn't matter how it looks.

Great job on the intake. It works! I had the exact same setup and gained 2mph in the 1/4 mile. One important thing that you did is not make that 180 degree turn by the firewall a metal tube. If it was metal, it would heat up since a lot of heat is in that location. The 2nd good thing you did is not have the filter exposed, sitting in the engine bay. When I tested filter location, by the firewall, power was lost across the board and I loss 1/4 mile time and trap speed, consistently. And exposed air filter location right at the throttle body was better overall but gave inconsistent results.

I can't explain the why it gave me the gains it did. I tested it repeatedly though and the gains were consistent. No loss of lowend torque that I could think of but I never dyno'd this intake nor did I dyno the stock one.


Will you let the Fit community know what the part numbers are of the six pieces that you used? If not, do you plan on selling them to board members?

Wayyyyy too many people stick a pod filter in the engine bay thinking it gains power and are fooled by the intake noise and their butt dyno that it is.
I call this the "Hot air intake" phenomenon.

Any photos of your latest setup?


Mines not dynoed so i dont know the gains

I deleted my last post because I didn't want to seem like I was taking this thread off where it should be. My intake is back to stock currently. I need to use an Evolution Ballistic battery to keep it installed and I didn't want to test that tiny battery against the cold winter weather (which we ended up not having anyways).

It isn't pretty but was testing multiple intakes and ideas to see what worked. A lot of pics of intakes I made and tested you can't see anymore because Imageshack site took them down. All the old information from testing is in the thread though.


Your intake is ideal though. It worked great when I tested different versions of your setup. None of my version looked as clean as yours though.

Can you list out the components you used?

It's a shame the parts that were posted won't be shared with the community. Water got into the OP's intake so it was removed. This is a great intake setup. One modification to it could be to attach a 'drain' of sorts to the first 90 degree bend. The water being ingested could fall through that hole into the stock container that leads down in that direction.

I currently have a piece at this elbow that heads out to the foglight. Water incoming from the front fender can easily drain out that way.

Just wanted to update in case anyone else was waiting to hear about what parts were purchased to make this cool intake.

Btw if you guys are keen the middle filter is a simota carbon charger.
The rest are just regular tubings to channel air :)

This is a pretty bad-ass intake but it's $465.00. Thanks for the heads-up Hydesg.

This looks pretty amazing. I have the Weapon-R intake on Foxy and plan on fabing a box for it when I get back stateside. Will post pictures!
