Mini van? Mini van? That's ancient history. People don't buy many of them any more, not enough to keep production lines going. Time to let go folks. We got over station wagons and convertibles and the like. We can get past mini vans as well.

It looks like the SUV has replaced that. People like the AWD. They can drive very, very fast on snowy roads.

Shame we never got this wagon. Not the prettiest thing in the world, but with a Skyline GT-R drivetrain it doesn't have to be-

Despite your negative views on them, most families still use them for their easy entry/exit, cargo capacity and utility...something no SUV can match.
Take a look at Toyota and Honda. They make the two best in the segment with no signs of ceasing production anytime in the foreseeable future

As other companies have dropped out of the minivan market it gives companies like Honda and Toyota some breathing space competition wise with an opportunity to pick up other customers. But it's still a shrinking market segment overall with no long term future.

Our Honda Fits will be the last of the subcompact Hondas... I will never sell mine and take the best care to make it last unreasonably long.

Same here.....am sure this will be the last car I own with knobs and buttons and switches and no touch screen anything, and a manual trans. We bought a new HRV for my wife, the dang thing is like a computer on wheels...still wading through the owner's manual. It's super nice, and all, and should be safe with all the sensing stuff, but, man, what a PITA to figure it all out. I'm old-school

But that's just your opinion.
Dodge (the pioneer of the minivan) is still making them.

Sales figures for the Grand Caravan - a bit down the page.

I love convertibles, sometimes steal my boyfriends.

Would also rather drive a minivan than an suv, and I am 26, no kids. Suvs look like a box, no style at all, and they have terrible handling, unless spending $250,000 to buy a Urus, or similar from say Porsche, or another performance brand. Drove my bosses brand new Escalade a few weeks ago, what a horrendous piece of shit. I'm very familiar with the roads he sent me on, driven that route dozens and dozens of times. That Escalade turned a 6 hour round trip drive, into 7 hours of lame driving, as it handles like I imagine a fit would if riding around on 3 tires, and 50 loose bowling balls were in it. Very possibly the worst handling vehicle on the road, but having had the opportunity to drive no less than 20 suvs over the years, including my sisters Honda CRV, which I strongly dislike. The heft, and height, seem to make an suv very ill handing. Only driven 2 minivans, both were a much nicer driving experience than an suv.

Yeah, but they still make them.
Clearly there's a market or else they wouldn't make them anymore (i.e. Honda Fit).

I occasionally watch car crashes on YouTube, and I see a lot of SUVs flip over easily. We had a couple of SUVs years ago, and each had a sticker on the sun visor warning about the tip-over danger.

I see that in the winter time. Once they slide off the icy road they flip real easy, especially if they hit a curb. That's when the people without seat belts sometimes tend to get thrown out. If you're really unfortunate you'll get thrown out in the direction the vehicle is rolling and get pancaked as it goes over you. I've seen a few press writeups about the occasional accident over the years mentioning that. I can't help wondering if, after having done so much front end crash testing, maybe they should move on and do some more testing on roofs too.

I think more than half the cars I see slide off the road in the winter are 4WD/AWD. They think they can go over the speed limit with impunity on slippery roads.

The Grand Caravan is dead. Now your options are the higher priced Chrysler Pacifica or the cheaper Voyager.

Very true here, I will estimate that 1/5th of vehicles in this area are SUVs, yet 3/4 of the accidents are caused by the same.

Where I work they have an older Grand Caravan, and also a Ford E350 15 passenger van to shuttle customers around, run errands, etc. Both have been excellent vehicles, and i believe are around 12 to 14 years old. Give me those to drive over the 2021 Escalade, or 2020 Terrain I've recently driven. That 2020 Terrain had just 16,000 kms on it, and had at least 3 rattles already. My 2008 Fit has 0 rattles.

What s shame...I don't like the HRV. I'm surprised the Fit has become such a niche where they needed to stop production in the US.
