To keep or not, +parking brake issue

Hello fellow freaks,

Our 2015 fit is the current commuter, (we have 3 other cars for different use) mostly for my wife as she drives to the office everyday. It’s been a great, reliable, fun car. It’s manual, light, and very efficient, so we actually enjoy driving it. That said, it’s got 105k on the odo, and it’s been having its little issues here and there. I replaced all 4 brakes, the drums were such a nightmare. Also replaced the plugs and two coils, as we kept getting engine codes for misfires. I’m hoping for a nice day to do the valve adjustment (debatable) and replace the 4 tires.
All that said, I’m wondering if it’s worth keeping the fit for another 4-5 years. The MDX is too big for my wife to commute everyday, but it’s needed for family trips. The accord is a lease, which is due in, next month. We could buy it out, sell it, and make a profit. Or we could buy (finance) it, keep it, and sell the fit. But we don’t want the payment and to be fair, is not as practical as the fit.
Our beloved fit also developed this strange e-brake thing, where the e-brake pops up very easily or by itself, especially when cold. I’ve added a video (wife is saying look, comes up, comes up, and you can hear it ratcheting) I took it to an indy mech (it’s too cold/no garage) spent 1k on replacing parts, and it’s still ongoing. This kinda prompted me to think on keeping the fit or not to be honest.

All advice is welcomed and appreciated.

A longer vid might be helpful, 3 seconds is of little help

I agree but it’s limited to 5 MB basically, the parking brake just comes up on its own, like the handle is so loose that it has no resistance. The shop adjusted something on the handle but it has made no difference. Weird enough, it goes back to normal once the weather is warmer or the car warms up.

Most smaller repairs/maintenance on the Fit will be a fraction of the price of a monthly payment on the MDX.

OP, if I were in your shoes I'd take the handbrake issue to the dealership.
If anyone is familiar with common issues with these cars, it would be those techs.

Overall, considering the age and overall enjoyment you are getting from it, I'd keep it.

I think this might have something to do with the "hill hold" feature of the brakes. It's installed on the rear brakes, so it's associated with that hardware.
Maybe something was installed incorrectly/not adjusted when the brakes were installed.

Appreciate the input. I think I might have found the answer in the interwebs. Will check once weather is nice again. If look at the second paragraph, water in the e-brake line is a thing. For the life of me, I couldn’t understand why it happens when it’s super cold out. I think this may be onto something, sucks cause I already spent a grand on the shop replacing parts that were pretty new. Anyhow, I think I’ll replace the line and test, will update here once done.

if it happened to you the dealer has likely seen it. Would I take my car to the dealer? I hope to one day lol
