AC compressor fan cutting on and off...
AC compressor fan cutting on and off...
I have a 2016 Fit and the AC is extremely inconsistent.
Usually the compressor and compressor fan come on as they should, and the AC blows very cold air.
However, occasionally, the AC will not turn on at all and will blow completely hot air. When this happens and I pop the hood, I can visibly see that the compressor fan is not spinning--it will come on for a split second every 20 or thirty seconds but then immediately shuts off after a couple of rotations. I am not sure where the compressor itself is actually located in the engine compartment so I cannot tell if it is on or not.
Few questions:
1. If the issue was a fuse, I assume the system would never come on at all, correct? Therefore, my first thought is that there is a faulty relay.
2. I would like to test the compressor fan and compressor relays, however, there is not a single diagram that I could find online that tells me what the relays in the engine fuse box do. (The fuse box diagram for the 2016 Fit that I did find does not label the relays.) Does anyone know of a relay diagram available online? If not, can anyone explain in words which relays control a) the compressor and b) the compressor fan when looking at the standard fuse diagram that is available online?
3. Since the compressor fan sometimes works perfectly and other times does not, can I 100% assume that the relay controlling the compressor fan is at fault, or is there another component that would cause the compressor fan to act this way?
Thanks.

Welcome. For what it's worth, about a year and a half ago, my '16 LX stopped blowing cold air, so last spring, I took it in. This is well after the 3/36 warranty expired.
Result? Leaking condenser, and the coolant leaked out of the system as a result. The condenser needed to be replaced and the system charged again. Right around $600 if memory serves.
If your condenser had leaked out like mine did, you might be experiencing the same symptoms.

I never got an explanation. The condenser didn't have any obvious damage. The assumption would be that the seals were either installed incorrectly at the factory, or deteriorated earlier than they should and leaked out that way.
I had some issues with mine early last year, replaced AC Compressor, the O ring connected to the compressor and a Denso relay. From then onwards not many problems with the ac compressor. But I heard from my mech, he was mentioning that, if you change the new compressor and your system is old as in a few years, the cooling coil might start leaking.
