Driver/ Passenger Side Mirror Adjusting the Mirror Bracket Position Forward Daily?

2020 Fit LX. Not a car guy. Covered apartment parking. Cars to the left of me. Cars to the right of me. So each time I park the last thing I do is apply light pressure with my stomach to the mirror and hold the bracket with my left hand where the mirror attaches to the car and with my right hand I push the mirror inwards towards the car.

Am I somehow shortening the lifespan of the side mirror mounts or possibly weakening whatever is holding the mirror bracket to the car. The driver and passenger mirror's themselves seem to have a lot more give than I recall.

After two years of this it seems that everything is maybe 15% more loosey goosey than it was before. TIA.

The way I understand it, the mirrors are designed to give way (fold in) if they hit an obstacle while the car is in motion.

If you're folding them in every night, you're putting enormous stress on the give-way joint. It wasn't designed for this. It's not the equivalent of electronically folding mirrors on other vehicles.

I have had each of my outside mirrors folded back maybe once or twice each after hitting something at slow speed. They're still tight.

If you want to keep yours tight, I'd stop folding them every night.

Thanks for responding.

Crap. I had no idea. I thought the way I was doing it was precautionary but then again I had no idea what a give way joint is so that's on me. Some of these idiots when they park almost seem to see how close they can get to you and still stay between the lines. And if they have kids all bets are off.
