2017 Fit A/C intermittent
2017 Fit A/C intermittent
Good morning,
The A/C in my 2017 Honda Fit does not work (usually), even when the A/C switch is pressed in and the small green light on the switch is illuminated.
The A/C will operate at random and be intermittent without any pattern I can discern. It operates about 15% of the time when I have the A/C turned on.
The problem seems to be electrical, when the A/C does work the cold air is “adequate” (it’s a Fit).
I’m thinking from reading on another forum this may be a “Honda AC compressor clutch relay switch”?
Any ideas? This has gone on for over a year without anyone able to diagnose and fix properly.
Thank you!

Check pressure in lines, should be I believe 32-40psi on low side and around 220-250psi high side; double check those numbers they could be wrong.
If that checks out I'd check power to the clutch itself. Not that hard, the AC compressor is right at the bottomside of the vehicle.
If no power check reading of A/C pressure switch using PROPER scan tool that can read real time PSI in lines. If the hydro/mechanical checks out, then I'd look into electrical.
From there you'll need a diagram to back trace the line from the compressor and so forth. Sometimes A/C clutches have too much clearance as well.
FWIW my compressor failed under 100k on my 2015 so these don't seem to be very good quality parts.
Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Took the car to the dealership for the first time in its life. Other mechanics were not capable of diagnosing the issue, so I figured what do I have to lose (but my hard earned money).
The tech spent two to three hours with the car. He rewired the AC Pressure Switch harness in an effort to not replace the entire thing. He found fault codes for the AC pressure switch. Time will tell if this fixes the problem.
Overall I’m disappointed with the Fit (Mexican made) product. My ‘96 Civic was a better vehicle.
Thanks for your tips!

Did it fix the AC issue?
I would like to know if it fixed the issue???
