Honda keeps switching suppliers and as a result they keep changing the part number:

15400-PLM-A01 Filtech filter
15400-PLM-A02 Fram Honeywell filter
15400-RTA-003 Mahle Tennex
etc.
That's from my notes a few years ago and I don't know what the current part number is or who the manufacturer is. Just go to Honda and ask for it - and keep the receipt. In theory you can use any good filter without affecting the warranty but if the engine blows up Honda will try and blame the third party filter you are using and they have lots of lawyers. Just buy their filter until the warranty is up.

Honda Fit, automatic, 2017.

Also, is the warranty violated if a third party oil filter (Fram, for example) is used instead of an official Honda oil filter?
According to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act enacted in the United States in 1975, a vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty of your vehicle due to an aftermarket part unless they can prove that the aftermarket part was the cause of or contributed to the failure of the vehicle (15 U.S.C. 2302 (C)). The law extends to routine maintenance like oil or filter changes done by the DIY owner or performed at businesses that are not authorized dealerships of the manufacturer. To the point raised engine failure due to a defective or substandard oil filter is extremely rare. An off the shelf filter of any name brand in conjunction with the correct oil should provide adequate protection for the manufacturer's oil replacement interval.

If engine failure results from a faulty third party oil filter which you installed then then there's a good chance they would refuse warranty coverage and win any court case you might bring. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act certainly says that you can use these third party oil filters. But as far as I know it does not obligate Honda to cover damage caused by someone else's product. Your warranty would be voided and it would be up to you to go after the filter company.

Dave is agreeing with you. He's saying they have to prove it.

You can use any name brand oil filter to do an oil change. I never used a Honda Oil Filter on my 2015 and it's still working after 8 years later. I find either Wix or Purolator One works for me. I go up till 4K to 5K miles and then change it every time. There are others like Bosch I could try but I'm good with the ones I already have.

I wouldn't use the basic Fram filter though, I would use the one level higher one. Ultra or something. Saw a comparison video that showed a big difference in filter material and quality made better.
