Use OEM microphone on aftermarket radio

Use OEM microphone on aftermarket radio

Hi, nice greetings from Portugal to all fitfreak forum user's.

I own a Honda Jazz/Fit EX 2017.
This EX Jazz version has factory microphone.
I bought a new radio unit and a canbus set and I get everything working except the OEM/factory microphone.
what I did so far:
I took 5v from one usb port to power the OEM microphone and used a 3.5 male connector and connect mic+ and mic-.
The shield wire (grey) I mixed with the Mic -.

The plug that connects to the microphone has also

The stock head unit connector for microphone
a yellow wire that is the mute signal. But I don't know what to do with it.
I think the problem remains in this...
Can someone help me?

You'll find that it would just be easier to use the supplied mic with the headunit. I put mine right in that spot near the sunroof controls where it's meshed/has holes. I used butyl putty or "dum dum" putty to adhere the mic in place. Never had any issues for years. I did have to sound proof the area around that mic as the roof is tinny and can cause interference with the mic pickup.

Thank you for the tip. I already tried that, but I wasn't satisfied with the results. Maybe I didn't isolate well the area...
Anyway and despite that easier solution I still would like to make work the OEM microphone... I had a very good experience with it. I could ear my wife very clear if she call me while using the OEM microphone. It's a great microphone...
I don't want to give up so easy 😉
I believe it's a detail...
I keep waiting and searching for...

I took again the stock head unit inside the honda and I read the voltage of the the microphone plug.
Yellow wire (mute signal) receives 8,63 v from head unit and the pink wire (power source for hft microphone ) receives 4,2 v from head unit.
Because my previous cable did not have a yellow wire, I must add one more wire.
After this I took a DC/DC converter and took power from main power plug and connect to this new wire.
The outcome ground I have connected to a screw in the car.
I was really hoping that this would fix the problem, but unfortunately the microphone still don't work...
I am near to give up...
Hope my experience at least help someone to find the solution...

I also have this problem, want to retain the original microphone with android head unit in my Honda Jazz 2018.

Sorry to disappoint you...
I put lots of effort on this but I had no luck...
I ended up with the easiest solution.
Put the aftermarket microphone in the place of the original microphone.

I had some time this summer to try it and I got it to work, although the sound is not great. I think the original microphone is amplified and then the head unit also amplifies so the sound is distorted. I have not found a setting to turn off the head unit amplification of the microphone.

The way I did it was that I spliced 5V from the USB connector and then used a voltage step up module to step that up to 9V. The original microphone needs both 5V and 9V to work, it does not work without it. I also 3D printed a small box to house it

I'm glad you had managed. 💪
I am back with the OEM head unit. My wife always complained about the bad audio phone calls.
Also got many problems with the canbus and the head unit, maybe I had bad luck, but now I don't wanna start all over again.
