I have a 2019 Honda Fit engines got about 90k miles on it, cars got like 120 (CVT). For several months now (probably a year actually) it’s made this obnoxious clicking noise at idle and gets even louder when you accelerate, eventually goes away at speed, it’s even more noticeable when the AC is on but doesn’t appear to be an issue with the AC itself as it still clicks when the AC is not on. Has anyone had this issue before/know what that sound is? Considering the car hasn’t exploded it the 10s of thousands of miles it doing this I assume it’s not a critical issue but it really is annoying on. Also this morning the fit has decided to hiss at me when starting it cold, and it kinda sounds like air brakes, pushing on the drivers side, I ignored it because it went away after a bit, but driving home tonight it sounded worse until it like “popped” if that makes sense, sound like a pop from under the dash area or around there in the engine bay and the noise didn’t return, any clue what that is either?

 

my GUESS is valve clearance.....mine is starting to tick when cold but goes away warm...is it WORSE when engine cold and BETTER when engine warm????

 

It was recommended by my local Honda Dealer to get a valve adjustment at 60,000 miles. I did. My Fit starts and runs like a Swiss Watch. I'm currently at a little over 98,000 miles.
