My starter is replaced by Honda service center. They charged me $200 i think (discounted price). Do we have any recall on starters?

No. And I wouldn't expect to ever see one.

Fit starts strong.

No hiccups or clicking. No double or triple tapping the push start button to start the Fit. Starts right up on the first push.

I'll give a 6 month review of this 75 dollar D.B. Electrical starter. Good or bad and any issues or problems.

Works great. Starts on the very first push start. Starts strong every time. No hesitation ever. Never had to hit the start button a second time.

Best 75 dollars I ever spent on my 2015 Fit.

Imagine a 12V electric motor being so expensive that you have to go to reman. That's a shame. From what's been posted, installation is very difficult - and expensive. Too bad. How many miles did the starter last?

Please let us know how this turns out.

Here's what I got;

They can get a Genco starter for only 215 dollars with my old starter as a core exchange. Their core charge exchange is 100 dollars. Yup. That's right. They take 100 dollars off the price for a core charge. Great deal.

They also can get a Denso starter for 415 dollars with the core charge exchange.

If Genco is a good brand I'm going with this brand.

Stay tuned.

I wonder what would be involved in rebuilding a starter. It's not like it's loaded with hundreds of parts. If it wasn't for the $100 trade-in, I'd like to take one apart and see what went wrong. I wonder if a local shop could rebuild it. We used to have a local shop that did just that, but it closed down.

Labor cost at a shop would probably be $100/hour. And then there's still the problem that if they need parts for it they won't be able to get them from Honda - who almost certainly doesn't carry parts for this and they might not be industry standard. It's quite possible though that the problem is simply something like corroded electrical contacts where it might be possible to clean them up yourself. This would be a do it yourself project to satisfy curiosity if you happen to have a bad starter that's already been replaced..

Thanks for the recommendation.

Where did you get your Denso starter?

What is the model number?

How much did you pay?

Thanks.

if denso is regular equipment, i'd go with that. stay away from rebuilds, they've been known to fail. is the car an automatic? push button start? maybe it's some other issue, when the starter " fails" do you know it's
getting proper voltage?

Wow that looks unpleasant!

it was rusted onto an aluminum block? that's one more reason to keep that plastic undertray, it does a lot to protect the engine bay from the elements
