Who's Your Starter?
Who's Your Starter?
What starter do you guys recommend?
I'm looking at,
Duralast
Denso
Bosch
All are Remanufactured or Rebuilt.
Honda has new starters. But a bit over my budget at the moment.
What starter outside the above three would you recommend?
Thanks.

I've had nothing but good experience with Denso, not just starters. I have one in my Lexus with no issues.
I don't know what the OEM line is used by Honda, but I would avoid what came with it from the factory. They, the previous owner, replaced the one in my '15 at only 43,000 miles, which is shameful at such low miles especially "for a Honda." I don't know what brand was put in, but the receipt for the job was $600 at any indy shop, using a reman unknown brand. Car now at 62,000 miles.

Starter Update.
A local car mechanic doesn't recommend Bosch. So Bosch is off the want list.
The local car mechanic can get a Denso starter for 375. Or an unknown brand rebuilt starter for 278 out the door. He'll find out what brand the unknown starter is in a few days.
Called my Honda Dealer. The brand name starter they have is by Mitsua. I mentioned Denso and he highly recommends Denso.
I'm going to a local neighborhood auto store (not a big box auto store) to see of they can order a Denso starter. According to their website they are a Denso parts dealer.
Stay tuned for another episode of;
"General Starter".

General Starter Update.
Just got back from the neighborhood auto store.
Here's what I got;
They can get a Genco starter for only 215 dollars with my old starter as a core exchange. Their core charge exchange is 100 dollars. Yup. That's right. They take 100 dollars off the price for a core charge. Great deal.
They also can get a Denso starter for 415 dollars with the core charge exchange.
If Genco is a good brand I'm going with this brand.
Stay tuned.

Genco.
It's from a local neighborhood auto parts store.
Lemay auto parts.
Warranty.
Not yet.
Only from my local Honda Dealer. If I get their starter they cover 3 years or 36,000 miles. Whichever comes first.

Starter Update.
Just ordered the 75 dollar starter from Amazon.
Should be delivered by this weekend.
My Honda Dealer will install it.

75 Dollar Starter.
Looks great.
Now for the installation.
Stay tuned.
That's a surprise. I could see a cooperative independent shop installing parts you bring in, but not a dealer. At least not at my dealer (Honda of Lisle). The warranty gets complicated if the part fails later.
Dealer Installed Aftermarket Parts.
My Honda Dealer is Napelton Honda in Morton Grove Illinois. Corner of Dempster Ave and Waukegan Road.
