Fron wheel stud replacement
Does anyone know if its possible to replace a broken wheel stud on the gk5, a mechanic shop quoted me $912 before tax for a hub and bearing claiming that the studs are "non interchangeable" a tire shop i had replace my tires a few months ago cross threaded my lug nut and pushed the stud out of the hub.

Go to another indie mechanic or your local Honda Dealer.

but no..you should be able to do it for less than 912 dollars...i would say its a 50 to140 job..between you and a "local shop"..

Wheel stud replacement on Fits is a nigjhtmare.

It's not an Academy award winning film, but beggars can't be choosers. The one thing I didn't do is look for something under the Jazz name. Might be something better there and a Jazz is mostly identical to the Fit.

He had to cut the shield behind behind the rotor and bend it back to allow for the stud to fit through. Else, you basically need to open up a lot more in order to get the stud in if you don't want to cut the shield.

lol you have to choose your friends wisely,,,,thats INSANE you need cut the shield
im always super careful with the studs,neversieze, always hand tight first few threads,if it doesn't thread, swapping around lug nuts usually makes it work...NEVER take to shop...no one has ever touched my nuts but me:nod: |

I don't let anybody use power tools on my nuts. I got sloppy on a tire rotation recently, and I messed up the threads on a stud. Really pissed myself off. I'm going to try a thread chaser on it. Changing out a wheel stud on Fits requires removing the wheel hub, not cutting or grinding anything. The problem with removing the hub, as I understand it, is that the axle inevitably slips out of place, and you have to spend an hour fiddling and swearing trying to get it back in, or give up on secular life and join a monastery. :D |
