Snapped my coolant bottle bolt

Hello,

as the title says, I snapped the bolt and now have a zip tie in there to try and hold the bottle but it’s still floppy so I’ll have to get around to drilling it out.

it’s probably impossible to get that out without removing the fan assy the bolt sits in. Or worse, is it in the rad itself? Anyone have experience with this issue and taking out the fan shroud or whatever to fix this bolt?

Shouldn't be too bad. Go ahead and get yourself some harbor freight plastic hose clamps to save from some coolant loss. If you can just pull the shroud out, maybe tilt it out away from the upper rad hose, you should be alright. Mine's held in by a push tab - plastic so if that suits you better so be it. Good luck man

I have to do a coolant change anyway so I'm just gonna drain the whole system. I'm thinking of just unclipping all the electrical connectors, undoing the 2 rad hoses and pulling out the whole rad and fans as an assembly. Do you think it will clear?

What do you mean about "held in by a push tab".

Should clear fine undoing the hoses I believe. Most rads after 2000s are top bolted bottom slide in for the Japanese stuff. Even if there's something there it'll be minor - you can figure it out.

The top of my reservoir is held in by plastic push tab, not a screw (tree style). Think body panel tabs
Bottom part just slides to sit in the fan shroud I believe - plastic.

I took a look in the engine bay and it looks like I’m screwed.

the bottle actually bolts into the A/C fan shroud. There are rigid A/C hoses right close to the AC rad fan. I don’t think I can pull it out. There is this huge metal bar that covers the whole rad, one bolt for this bar is located under the plastic of the headlamp so it looks like I’d have to potentially remove the headlamps!

this is ridiculous! I’m super disappointed. Gotta take apart half the car to get to the dang radiator. Anyone ever accessed the rad or the condenser?

I looked online for 2015 Honda Fit radiator replacement and found only one useless video of some dude putting the bar covering the rad back together. Yup, he had taken out his headlights too.

I looked at Chilton's online and they have it as removing the bumper, headlamps and that bulkhead for not only replacing the radiator/condenser, but also just replacing either of the fans as well.

RIP. I guess the bottle will stay attached to the fan shround with a zip tie. When I looked at the bulk head, i noticed an inverted U shape and the fan bolts are deep in there. Even if I got them loose from underneath, theres no room to wiggle it out.

Thanks for checking!, How can I access Chilton's? Is it subscription based?

I use an online library to access it. I haven't checked if there's a hardcopy.
