Starter Button Problem

The starter button problem is getting worse on my 2015 EX. It took about five attempts both to start the car and then to stop it.

I'm looking for suggestions for buying a new button. I see them listed for $30 - $150. I know that cleaning is a possibility, but I don't want to be cleaning it every six months.

Unfortunately, the 2015 requires major disassembly to get at the button, so I don't want to do it more than once.

All ideas appreciated!

Starter Button Fix.

I had mine replaced for free at my local Honda Dealer about 2 or 3 years ago.

Go to your local Honda Dealer and see if they'll replace your start button for free.

I'll call tomorrow, but fat chance. It's over ten years old with over 100,000 miles.

I ordered a new Honda button from eBay - $44. I'm taking a 300 mile round-trip on Thursday. I hope I get home.

I wouldn't go on that trip.

Get your start button fixed first before your road trip.

See if your local Honda Dealer will fix your start button for free.

Nothing can be done before Thursday, and that's when I'm leaving. I could use my son's Fit instead, but I don't like driving someone else's car. Today, it started at the first press - twice. Once, it needed two presses to shut off the engine.

Have you considered upgrading your setup to the physical key?
Seems like those with that setup, aren't having this problem.

How would that be done?

Not sure, but considering the serviceability of these vehicles, I'd presume the project could be worthwhile.
Especially if you have a donor vehicle to use for parts.

Push Start Button To Key.

Not worth the time and hassle if it were possible.

I had my push button start replaced.

Since then my Fit starts and stops on one push.

Just check with your local Honda Dealer to see if the free push button start fix is still available before you fix it on your own.

The problem is just going to get worse.

It will take 2, 3, 4 and more times you have to push the start button to start and turn off your Fit.

It happened to me.

Then I went to my local Honda Dealer to fix this.

To my surprise my Honda Dealer told me they've had this problem with Fits and other Honda cars. Then the service tech told me this fix is Free.

The Dealer tech replaced my push start button in about one hour.

Since then my push start button starts my Fit on the first push.

And turns off on the first push.
